The clubs all started training at different times, some haven't started at all yet. From 24th August to 10th October is 7 weeks, more than enough time for a proper pre-season. It doesn't change the planning for starting back either in terms of administration. All that is paused is training, and that's only for a week and a half. Everything else in terms of preparation for the season can carry on. I like your positivity but I don’t think there is a chance that the season will be completed unless a vaccine is found. It’s too easy to spread , maybe not if players don’t use changing rooms etc but more so the fans using bars and hospitality etc, and most clubs I would say need that income to survive.

There seems to be this narrative that when a proper vaccine is found the virus just disappears the next day. It will likely take years to get a vaccine rolled out to every person in the world. Covid-19 doesn't just disappear overnight. What do we all do in the meantime? We either pause the world for years or we try and find a happy medium and allow a return to some sense of normality with restrictions in place. Aberdeen players go out for a few pints to a Covid-19 hotspot and a Celtic player goes on a jolly to Spain, so as a punishment, the SPFL stop all clubs outside the league the players who acted like idiots play in, get told they can't train? Who even makes this sh*t up, honestly? Just when you think our game and this country in general can't become any more embarrassing.
glensmad
Let's not kid ourselves on that the training pause has been brought in simply because of Aberdeen and Bolingoli. There are clubs all over the country at all levels who are breaking the protocols, the example I gave last night of the amateur team wanting to hire our pitch for a friendly two weeks ago shows that. This is a final warning from the SFA that they are serious about this, and clubs need to get real with the situation. Not just in our league, but in all leagues at all levels of football.
FairWeatherFan
2/12 Clubs have already seen breaches that have lead to postponements and the FM warn shutting football down. This site has had plenty of rumours of breaches by non-league teams across different leagues. Looks simply like the SFA/SPFL are trying to avoid a shutdown and it doesn't look like it should be much of an issue considering: Training date 24th August to Projected first competitive games of the 2020-21 for non-league teams 10th October 2020 = 47 days First competitive game of 2019-20 for West Region clubs 31st July 2019 - 47 days = 14th June 2019. The 2018-19 West Premiership didn't wrap up until the 7th June 2019.

So teams have been breaking rules left, right and centre yet we see no spike in cases, deaths or people in ICU etc in the Glasgow area. The SNP are simply playing political games with the pressure they are exerting on the SPFL and SFA to deflect from their own current issues. -

The simple truth is that after getting the virus down to extremely low levels of community transmission, the more that opens up in society (pubs, schools and indeed football) the greater the chance of it rearing its head again in a big way becomes...it's only abated rather than actually gone away, and if we all just said f**k it and went back to our normal lives - like I'm sure most of us would like to - the chances are we'd be back to square one very quickly indeed. Aye its all just a big political game and the SFA and SPFL should grow a pair eh ? At least one of our fans has died already and numerous others will have been dealing with having relatives and loved ones with symptoms that often leave a lasting unpleasant health legacy. The fact that we haven't had huge outbreaks ( yet ) is partly because of a cautious attitude and a willingness to make things tighter if the government deem it necessary to control things. Fitba isn't a bigger priority than the economy or people's health or education. We're at the Coo's tail not because the SNP are trying to prove how strong or in control they are ... but because in the grand scheme, our watching guys kick a ball about a cpl of times a week isn't as important as people's health. So if we want it back we need to stick on the Big Boy pants, suck it up, dae as we're tellt and hope naebody else fucks it up.

It's never ''going away'' until a vaccine is found and then rolled out to the population, which will take years. Every team could stick their players in isolation for the next 6 weeks but when everyone comes back out again, the virus is still going to be there as we continue to have flights coming in and out of the country every single day. Look at New Zealand and Australia, they had extremely strict lockdowns and NZ are seeing a rise in cases as they start to open back up. Australia is worse just now than it was in April/May time at the peak of the virus in most Western countries. We either accept the risk is going to be there and look to get back to some sense of normality with restrictions in place or we wait until the virus is totally gone, which will be a couple of years in all likelihood which means the semi professional game in Scotland is gone. Finished. So what's your solution? Edited August 14, 2020 by Crazy Feet

BANKIEBILL
To TS and CF ... no not forever. There will be a point where the prevalence is down to a level that so few people have it that we can go back to normal and jump on any outbreaks individually like a ton of bricks. Until a vaccination is available, we need to maintain travel restrictions from abroad and even from rUK if things look like running out of control. The guidelines given by LL and WSFL mean that if we can prove our house is in order and people stop acting like fannies, then we can try to go back. We won't be able to do everything right away im thinking ... catering, social clubs and standing beside your mates might be curtailed for a while. It'll be worth it though - whilst trying to keep things safe for everyone. You don't want to catch it at the fitba then take it home to the family. It's not nice. The solution is probably not a million miles away from what has been happening - a slow, steady restart of most activities with the option of rolling things back and reapplying restrictions when case numbers almost inevitably rise. And as has already been pointed out, football especially at the lower levels isn't all that high a priority...I'd suggest the only reason the top tier of the SPFL is back up and running on sufferance is because it provides a useful opium of the masses for a large section of Scottish society. "Accepting the risk is going to be there and looking to get back to some sense of normality with restrictions in place" is pretty much what's been going on over the last couple of months and continues to happen, so I'm bemused why you advocate that happening on one hand and then claim SNPbad after they do exactly that. We could have played 5-6 games already, before a rise in cases emerged, think the ridiculous number of deaths worldwide makes things difficult - if cases/deaths got down really low then maybe, just maybe.
