Malky on ability alone would be a cracking appointment.

He should never have got another job in football again after he got exposed.

I'd like to think his tenure would be short lived if he did get the job due to overwhelming fan pressure. Absolutely no place for him in club football.

Seeing names mentioned by Scott Burns & that there will be 12 prospective managers interviewed

"Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon, ex-Birmingham City manager Steve Cotterill and Stoke City assistant Billy McKinlay have come under consideration for the Dundee United job, writes Scott Burns.

The Tannadice club have interviewed around 12 candidates in the past few days."

There's folk out there who think Levein is 'past it' but believe John Robertson would be a 'good choice'.

🙄

Robertson got Inverness promoted around twenty years ago. Since when he's been sacked or let go from Hearts, Ross County, Livingston, Derry CIty, East Fife, and now he's in charge of a distinctly meh Inverness again.

John Robertson has done an absolutely fantastic job at Inverness. Lost pretty much his whole backline in January, given zero money to spend and didn't see a downturn in their form. He's built a very able unit out of some very average players whilst reducing their budget each season. The worry would be is he another that will only do a good job at Inverness like others before him.

Not one in the Robertson camp, but that's being a little unfair. His Hearts managerial career was during the revolving door policy during Romanov's time. He did get them 5th in league and 2 semis. Livi was poor, Derry doesn't look good on paper, bit took them out of relegation to mid table. Was only sacked after new chairman and BoD came in.

His over all record is not too bad although only really Hearts at a "high" level.

12 candidates is a bit bizarre, no?

Seeing rumours that Steve McLaren was one of those interviewed.

Although also read on another forum that we says they had spoken to someone in United that said it's Malky.

Steve McLaren?

Now there's a guy who knows his fitba...

Depends how far into the process they are. If it's simply a case of talking to 12 candidates on a long list then that seems fair enough. 12 in-depth, full interviews seems like a lot of work.

Depends on the definition of "interview"

Aye sorry, a 12 man 'shortlist' with interviews would be a bit bizarre.

McLaren would be amazing.

McLaren managing a team with Shanks and the other chap you just mentioned in the Utd thread would be as rewarding as getting a cheeky 10 mins in the shower with Scarlett Johansson.

Steve McClaren strikes me as the sort of person to lose his life savings in a Ponzi scheme.

He really is as thick as shit. Describing how to play with a lone striker he said it all depends on his size. If he is small, don't kick it long or cross into the box but if he is big kick it long and cross the ball in the box as much as you could but only if you have someone who can cross the ball in to the box or that would be pointless.

Thanks for that, Steve.

Theres not a chance he'd give up being able to share such insight with millions of people to take over at Dundee United.

I truly hope he does, though.
