CM.
September 2020 2 superb results to start the month, particularly the win at Villa Park. They still have the likes of Mings, McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Grealish and Trezeguet and have also added Harry Wilson so was well chuffed at that result. Defeat but not disgraced against Spurs. Defeat and a little disgraced against Wigan To be fair we were due a bad day at the office so I wasn't too hard on them after that. Back with a bang against Millwall. Parrott finally netting his first goals for the club - a perfect hat-trick to boot. Will just update the full table at the half way and final stage from now on to keep length of posts a little shorter. For now focus is just on my position and a few above/below. Huge game at home to Sheff Wed next to begin October. Rest of the card as follows. Trips to Brighton and Watford will be extremely difficult to get anything from but we went to Villa and won so who knows. Edited June 6, 2020 by C. CM.
October 2020 Rollercoaster against Sheff Wed. Lead 3-1, pegged back to 3-3. Dembele securing his hat trick for winner. Routine win at a garbage Derby side propping up the table. Comortable against Reading too although both goals came from set-pieces, each centre back on the day nabbing a headed goal each from Max Power corners. Just 1 point from the 2 toughies to end the month. Late equaliser at Brighton before it was my turn to concede late against Watford after I had pegged them back to 2-2 from 2-0 down. Tough one to take. Notice Sheff Wed are no longer there despite being top last month. Down to 8th now 3 home games with the only away trip to mid-table Bristol City. Looking ahead at the rest of the season, the fixtures have been really kind to us. Watford H, Sheff Wed A, Brentford A, West Brom H between December and January is probably our toughest run of consecutive fixtures for the rest of the season. Performing way beyond expectations, really think we could do something this season if we avoid a lengthy injury list. Close to adding another centre half on a free till the end of the season as I'm short on numbers there with Dawson currently injured and Smith constantly needing rests. Really is a short term fix as he's 40 years old and retiring at the end of the season
CM.
Can't decide whether the headline is absolutely brilliant or completely cringeworthy but it's nice for him to get some recognition. And what an impact he's made. Edited June 7, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
November 2020 Nearly perfect. Defeat in the North East derby in a completely uneventful game where Assombalonga scored a penalty right on half time. No table for this month as I've excitedly played a couple of December fixtures already so will just update at the end of this month.
CM.
December 2020 A bit of a blip this month, including our first back-to-back league defeats and ending the month with a cruel last min defeat in the top of the table clash v Watford. To me though, the only real bad result was the 3-1 home defeat to Stoke. Remember, despite the terrific campaign so far, the expectations were only to remain in the division. Full table 25 games in. Watford pulling clear, we're ahead of the chasing pack by the skin of our teeth. A quite unbelievable collapse by Sheff Wed, which shows us that a run of poor form in this league can have you avalanching right down the table. So we'll need to remain focused and ensure we don't find ourselves guilty of that. Next league game? Sheff Wed away Boring cup tie but like to think we should beat them. Aforementioned Sheff Wed game then 2 toughies after that. Brentford roasted us at the beginning of the season and West Brom right up there behind us in the table. Would be very disappointed with anything other than 6 points from the final 2 games of January. Edited June 8, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
January 2021 Players Out Players In Mimnaugh is quite good for Rangers in my Aberdeen save, no real other reason for that Will be in the u23s initially. Mavropanos loan and Findlay (both centre backs) not only provide more cover after the departing Willis but are good enough to go straight into the side. Dawson and Dunne doing fine at present though so will need to wait for their opportunities. I could've got Findlay for nothing in the summer but other clubs were sniffing about and I know how good he can be in this so bit the bullet and spent the cash to bring him in now. Wharton is another centre back but, like Mimnaugh, will be in the u23s to start. Got decent potential so thought that fee was worth a punt. Should make a profit on him even if it doesn't work out. Cup tie was just one of those days. We dominated in every statistical aspect, but they were clinical in front of goal and we weren't. That's it really. Sheff Wed misery further compounded which was followed by a superb win at Brentford. Disappointing against West Brom. 6 points from Ipswich and Luton as expected, and a few goals to boot. Watford had a poor month and now a few sides are well within their reach. Us, WBA and QPR all had good months. Decent month on paper, but wary of Stoke and Boro who both won at the Stadium of Light in our reverse fixtures.
CM.
February 2021 Absolutely unreal stuff. 8 wins in a row now. Dawson is a fucking machine in the air. Dunne got an injury just after last update so was Findlay partnering Dawson for Birmingham game then Mavropanos from the Peterborough game. 1 goal conceded in 5 games with that partnership which means Dunne will only regain his place barring injuries or a nosedive in form. Perica has remained very patient since signing and got off the mark against Bristol City in his first league start. He's been desperately unlucky with his lack of opportunities because of Brewster and Parrott being in such good form. Only got a start against Bristol City cause I went with all 3 with Parrott and Brewster in AM roles. Fitness and injury issues in the Boro game meant Leadbitter got a run out against one of his former clubs. He smacked in an absolute worldie. This season has went better than I could've ever dreamed. Would be a shame if we ended up not getting promoted from here, despite already well surpassing the avoid relegation expectations. Looks like a 3 way race for the title now but wouldn't be surprised at more twists. Sheff Wed are 16th. After winning 8 of their first 10 games, they've since won 4 out of 26. Should be 2 home wins. Away wins would be terrific too and of course it's possible in current form. Ever the pessimist but just got a gut feeling of a bad result around the corner. Massive month, as the 2 sides behind me both could well take maximum points from their cards. Edited June 8, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
March 2021 Not a very good time to start playing poorly but still managed to huff and puff to victories in the 2 home games. QPR equalised late, Huddersfield was a shit show. Watford West Brom Table Agonisingly close. You just know whoever finishes 3rd will go on to lose in the play-offs. Edited June 9, 2020 by C. CM.
THE RUN IN Schedules for me and the 2 other sides in the title/automatic promotion hunt. It's sure to be a roller coaster end to the season. 1st. Sunderland (85 pts) 2nd. West Brom (84 pts) 3rd. Watford (84 pts) Edited June 9, 2020 by C. CM.
MATCHDAY 41 Brighton v West Brom Watford v Derby Sunderland v Aston Villa Dawsons threat in the air doing wonders again. We were shit in that game. As you were. Edited June 9, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
MATCHDAY 42 Ipswich v Watford West Brom v Brentford Millwall v Sunderland A Power screamer right on half time was important as rock bottom Millwall had dominated the first half. Huge result with what happened elsewhere. Edited June 9, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
MATCHDAY 43 Middlesbrough v West Brom Watford v Barnsley Nottingham Forest v Sunderland Nice one rivalsbrothers. My fellow promotion contenders have absolutely chucked it. Pretty untenable position now. A win at home to Derby pretty much secures the title and a return to the Premier League for Sunderland. A draw could also be enough if results elsewhere go our way. Edited June 9, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
MATCHDAY 44 West Brom v Cardiff Wigan v Watford Sunderland v Derby That wasn't in the script. Title on hold for another week but 6 ahead with Watford with 2 games left sees promotion all but secured.
D Angelo Barksdale
Enjoying the detailed weekly run in. Slightly disappointing that the other 2 chucked it early, not that the op will mind.
CM.
MATCHDAY 45 Watford v Aston Villa Derby v West Brom Cardiff v Sunderland Unreal performance. West Brom lose so title is clinched in spectacular style with a game to spare. Disappointing not to win it at home last week but oh well.
CM.
Leaves me nearly 200k p/w wage budget spare. Good budget but will need to be spent wisely. A lot of my top performers this season have been loans so that's a market I'll be looking into again. Might even end up with the same ones if available What a season.
CM.
An exciting 3-3 draw with Brighton to end the campaign. Maguire among the goals in his final game as I'm choosing to let him go in the summer. West Brom edging Watford for automatic promotion on goal difference.

CM.
Not going to lie, I did briefly consider going for this. Doubt a job similar or bigger will come calling if we (Sunderland) have a bad return to the top flight. However, we've gone this far with Sunderland so I've decided to stay put.
