So gammons don't think BLM / anti-racists / the left / whatever just want to get rid of a few dodgy statues and have a proper discussion about racism, they listen to the handful of loonies who want to tear everything down and spray paint "hang all white people" on the rubble. Doesn't mean it won't be what right wing idiots choose to react to rather than the huge weight of reasonable points that might require a response a bit less reactionary. His skull was dug up in the 19th Century and a cast taken of it (the Victorians used to do that kind of thing, probably for the pseudo science of phrenology). They made a replica of Bruce's fizzog using this a few years ago, he looked quite hard and not someone whose pint you'd spill. Bruce wanted his heart taken on crusade and as said his pal the "guid Sir James" Douglas took it and got waylaid in Spain by the Moors (North African black guys) according to legend. Douglas was more anti-Islam than racist it would seem. Douglas was killed in battle, the heart retrieved and buried at Melrose Abbey In 1996 during renovations at Melrose a lead casket was recovered containing remains of a heart and was dated to the 14th Century.
