ICTChris
I just came on to post that. Possibly the stupidest statue vandalising in modern history.

ICTChris
Has Desperate Dan's statue in Dundee been hit yet?I asked my wife to guess which statue had been done in in Scotland and that was her guess. I’m sure the Utility lads are out to guard it this weekend. [emoji109]

There is no indication that it would happen again. Those bringing it up are just right wing arseholes trying to deflect from the bigger issue. A few bits of marker pen don't mean racism doesn't exist anymore. As for dismissing it as "left wing". Left wing people believe in equality, which is all black people have been after for centuries. Hardly an extreme position. Right wingers like Trump and Yaxley Lennon are, clearly, bigoted racist scum. If you find yourself on the same side of this, or any other, debate as them, you're part of the problem. The type of absolute pish which has a huge amount of people either baffled by what these protests are trying to achieve, or is turning decent people away from having any kind of sympathy for the protesters. The same zealots who thought Corbyn was a political genius, and anyone who disagreed with them was a right-wing traitor brainwashed by the BBC, are using these BLM demonstrations to further their own ends. If you actually think that people uncomfortable with mob rule are all 'right wingers', then all you're doing is painting yourself into a corner marked 'nutcase'.
Newbornbairn
Just been down to the Bruce statue (it's just round the corner) and some locals have scrubbed the graffiti off the plinth. About half a dozen photographers and a tv camera there though.

He had the fear of burning in Hell as one of the two Popes at the time excommunicated him for murdering The Comyn in a church. His heart went on Crusade after his death. I think that's right anyway.

As I remember being told, Douglas took Bruce's heart with him to Spain to fight the Moors. In his final battle, Douglas and his men were surrounded and told to surrender. Douglas took Bruce's heart and threw it into the mass of Moors, shouted " 'mon then " and was duly chibbed. We should check with @Granny Danger cos he was probably there.

Dunfermline Abbey, IIRC, claims to have a bit of Bruce's heart buried in it. A pal once asked why it has a big sign on the roof that says "THE". The other three sides have KING ROBERT BRUCE. Bit route one by the architect IMO.
NotThePars
One statue being taken for a long overdue bath has caused a far bigger shiting it than literally anything all the people tone policing the protests for not doing it correctly have ever managed.

Your hunch is as much nonsense as your last post. Have a wee look back at my posting history and see what my political views are. I can tell you what what my political views are not though.....they're not dominated by student socialist zealotry, the type of zealotry that hijacks events for its own failed agenda.
