Is this bennet guy from the last few pages always so desperate to play the edgy troll for attention? Worth using the ignore poster function on him?

I dont understand why people dont have him on ignore tbh.

I see the right wing lot have started bringing up Lee Rigby and that awful Emily Jones case in some sort of whatabouterry/equivilence argument. Not just a small amount of folk making these arguments either, It's reinforcing that there are a dangerous amount of utter, utter thickos about. I'm not even sure why they feel they have to be opposed to the BLM movement, they've chosen to see it as more soft lefty virtue signalling and i don't really get it.  Probably comes from right wing shock jock opinion leaders feeling they have to be opposed to everything to keep themselves relevant, which then makes their followers adopt the same viewpoints.

The Emily Jones case was hushed up. I remember at the time it wasn’t on the mainstream news and only a side bar on Page 7 of a newspaper. I could ask my hometown if they’d heard of Emily Jones and I’m sure 90% wouldn’t have. If I asked them I didn’t they’d heard of George Floyd I’m sure 90% would have. That’s not a slight at all on the George Floyd case, more a slight on how mainstream media reports things

What was hushed up about it? As far as I am aware the perpetrator was arrested.

Can't say I'd heard about it, but I can't see any rational reason why anybody would correlate a wee girl being stabbed and killed by a mentally ill woman, with public disorder that resulted from a police officer strangling a black man to death in front of his colleagues and members of the public, in a country where black people continue to be treated as dangerous animals by the authorities.

Unless...oh, the mentally ill woman was Albanian, so we're supposed to think this wasn't an isolated incident either, because foreigners are bad, so we should have anti-immigration demonstrations. Not on social media, but is that about the sum of it?

What am I missing here? Why the gasp and OMG?

Indulging in race riot porn isn't a terribly seemly look.

Nothing like as bad as that journo posing for fake construction pictures, though. What the f**k is wrong with some people. She should never be allowed to forget that.

this really is nuts

Aside from legitimate outward or subconscious racism that many cops demonstrate, herein lies the greater crux of the fucking problem. Racism being left to one side momentarily, a terrifying number of them are also ham-fisted, trigger happy, ultra-aggressive thugs.

Not one single cop there was interested or intending to actually listen to the reporter who was happy to clarify the situation, just shout over her and tell her to shut up or back off.... and this is a problem trait you see an overwhelming amount of in the Police, not only there but here as well. An absolute chip on the shoulder and inability or unwillingness to actually open their ears and listen.

My stepdaughter's wee girl is 7, I've always tried to instil into her that the police are not people to be scared of to approach and are just normal people doing a normal job. That if she was to get lost when out with her mum or me and my partner or anything, not to be scared to approach a police officer as they are there to help, etc.

My stepdaughter's ex has always held the opposite viewpoint and has always sort of tried to tell his wee girl to distrust them etc...but then he got caught doing something he fucking shouldn't have and got sent away for a wee while and instead of it being his own fault for doing it, it was the police's fault for catching him.

I now watch this all unfolding...at 7, she's aware and sees it, asks questions about it and it's really hard to try and explain it to her young mind fully and yet maintain that stance of 'if you get lost or scared, or anyone does anything bad, they'd help you'.

I think thats a reasonable place to find yourself at given the media attention and the stuff you can see on social media.
Take her along to the next open day or if you see some police officers out and about take her over for a chat, im sure if they arent on a call then they’d sit and chat away with her?
