Kanye's tweeting about it

I think that's expected, Kim Kardashian is of Armenian descent, she has tweeted about the war and posted on Instagram about it.  She also tweeted about the attack of Turkish backed Syrian jihadists on an Armenian village in Syria a few years ago.

I think she's had meetings with Trump in the past about other issues - it says something that a reality TV star famous for having a big arse might be able to influence the US President to tkae more of an interest in the war.

Following calls between Sergei Lavrov and the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan another ceasefire has been announced from midnight tonight.

Armenian forces fired a scud missile at Ganja yesterday which according to reports levelled an apartment block, killing 15 civilians. Horrible scenes, just awful. Hopefully the ceasefire holds.

Here’s a military analysis of the conflict so far.

https://warontherocks.com/2020/10/the-second-nagorno-karabakh-war-two-weeks-in/

It doesn’t make very good reading for Armenia, whose air defence systems have really failed. However, as the article states, Azeri superiority hasn’t produced significant gains.

I saw another analyst say that what the Azeri attack has done is stop the ability of Armenian forces to counter attack using heavy weaponry and artillery and this will improve the Azeri position in any future war of attrition.

Also, the Russian Navy and Air Force carried out exercises last week emphasising shooting down drones, which some have taken as an indirect warning to Turkey that if they try to assist Azerbaijan in a substantive offensive on Armenia they have the ability to intervene.

Galaxy brain Adonis reducing the social movements of the indigenous Bolivians to simply Anti Americans. Just outright racism.

The coup regime have cancelled the early result system so no results until Wednesday which will likely be a travesty.

Even Añez has already conceded that MAS have won in the first round - with an even higher vote share than Morales ever won - but it hasn't stopped Western media going straight to the implication that they must have stolen it somehow.

Predictably pathetic stuff, but with even an unrepentant fascist coup leader admitting defeat it's going to be extremely difficult for the OAS or US to claim a defence of democracy if they try another coup.

Just while we're on the topic, any good recommendations for books on US/OAS/CIA fuckery in Latin America?

I haven't bought it yet but Vincent Bevins' recent book The Jakarta Method has had solidly rave reviews and deals with CIA actions in Indonesia and Latin America.

The Open Veins of Latin America by Eduardo Gaelano was written in the 60s so before all the Operation Condor stuff but goes into a lot of detail about the whole history of imperialism in the region since Columbus.

That's great cheers mate. For context I lived in Colombia for a year when I was younger, and only really started to learn about the history of the place beyond the big headlines through speaking to friends. Been on my "to find" reading list since

I'm expecting to see complaints about unrealistically high turnout despite the fact that indigenous and working class Bolivians have as much motivation to participate in this election as anyone ever has. It's life or death for them.

The best response was from Sunny Hundal a few months back where he did a mea culpa on the coup admitting he was wrong to say it was a legitimate deposition but then dismissed everyone on the left correctly calling it for what it was by saying "the left cries coup all the time and unlike me didn't do the research first". Like mate just take the L like you always do.

Andrew Adonis has tweeted congratulations to MAS. One day after slating Corbyn for supporting them. The guy is a joke.

It's great to see the scenes of celebration in Bolivia after seeing a lot of violent repression in the past year. MAS and their supporters made it impossible for the right/USA to steal election again by showing their strength through strikes and taking control of highways. The USA will obviously just change tactics but it's a huge victory against imperialism.

Good stuff from Bolivia. Long jail sentences all round for the coup leaders, rapid rescinding of all the bollocks they legislated on first order of the day I hope. 👍

They took out a huge IMF loan last week. I don't think anything could be more visibly corrupt.

The Guardian still don't have a story up. Obviously waiting for their editorial line from Whitehall or Washington.

Bolivia election: exit polls suggest thumping win for Evo Morales' party

Is Bolivia poised to swing back towards socialism? A year after the country’s first indigenous president was controversially ousted, his party is well placed to win a rerun presidential election
