Despite walking past Camelon Juniors ground every day for years on the way to and from school, I've never been to one of their games. Only Junior game I've been to (as a spectator) was the Bo'ness semi final at Brockville on their way to winning the Scottish in 1984. Only went because my Physics teacher played for them. And the only two other Junior games I've been to was as a linesman.

That's quite something. What stopped you from going?

Goal should have never been given. Kicked it out of goalie's hands.

April 1966. Got taken to Tynecastle for Penicuik v Bonnyrigg semi final as my uncle was Cuikie captain. Crowd about 11000.
First proper junior ground would be Bonnyrigg probably the season after. Think they beat Arniston 7-2 with Dod Henry getting a few.

Cumnock v Petershill scottish cup QF..would be mid 80s...Peasy won 4-1...headed down with my uncle grandfather and cousin on supporters bus think there was maybe 5 left the club..

Memories of game Petershill won easy..but always remember there being a fight in the stand with cumnock fans snd petershill players who had travelled but not played.

Buses needed an escort out aswell.

I know i was at another QF away to Carnoustie but cant remember much about it apart from Petershill got beat.

My earliest memory of being at a junior football match was sitting in the front row of the old wooden grandstand at Southcroft Park, and then crawling about underneath it as well. [emoji6] This was pre-1975 as it was burned down that year. I have no memory of the game though.

My earliest memory of a junior match was the Scottish Junior Cup semi final at Rugby Park in 1975 when we beat Kilbirnie Ladeside 3-2. We were behind the goal in the old shed at the Rugby Road end, and I only remember our goalkeeper Tony Ward taking a goal kick and the referee blowing his final whistle and everyone around me going nuts. [emoji846]

I remember the final at Hampden against Glenrothes too, but only the goal and the teams running out onto the pitch with Glens wearing Queen's Park strips. Our strips had been destroyed in the grandstand fire just before the final.

You are far enough away from Rugby Park and Ibrox/Parkhead not to have as big a problem that a club like Camelon have drawing people in locally when Falkirk are also walking distance (not so much now maybe but Brockville definitely was) and Rangers are easy to get to quickly by public transport.

Wasn't going to post this but think Camelon was the first junior ground I can very vaguely remember being at around 1970 or so. Would have been around 5 at the time, so don't remember much about it. No idea who they would have been playing and just remember it being a football game like any other rather than something mystically junior.

Don’t remember my first game , but, it must have been in the early/ mid 1960’s
I remember a game at Cumnock against the best Junior team I ever saw at Townhead Park , the great Cambuslang side of the 70’s ( probably have been 73/74 ), we had a great team then and got totally turned over (4-1, I think it was ) and the dream was over again

Remember going to Whitburn in a Scottish tie and across the road from the park was a Masonic club and we went in there for a small refreshment

The old guy at the door said”if we had thought there would be so many of you coming we would have put some music on

He mentioned there was a keyboard/ organ up in the function room
A few of us proceeded to bring it downstairs , plug it in and one of our guys (the legendary Joe “ninety” Watson)
We then “persuaded” a guy to nip to his house for his guitar and it continued till we had our own we “band”

When we left to go to the game, the old fella was about greeting as the place was bursting at the seams.

Another great story was Cumnock went to Tranent to play them and again had a good team. A lot of our guys thought it was going to be easier than it turned out.

Famous quote from a Batman in a pub in the town when I guy sitting at the bar asked what was going on that day and the barman said “Tarnent” were at home.

The guy said “ who are the playing” and the barman said “ listening to some of these guys, I must be fuckin Brazil”

Classic!!!!

No idea of my first game. Too far back for me to remember and I doubt my old man would be able to remember either, but having been born in 1980 my first game will have been Bo’ness vs somebody probably about 1981/1982. My first ‘memory’ would be the ‘84 Junior Cup Final win Bo’ness vs Baillieston. As I’d have still been less than 4 years old, my memory mainly exists from having watched the game on video in later years to be honest, but I do have a vague recollection of being both intimidated and excited by the noise of a big crowd in a big stadium and everybody going nuts when Lex Shields scored his worldies!
