The Dundee United Thread 22/23

We played alright for the first 20 minutes that's the funny thing. After the second goal, the players had a colossal meltdown. The way the heads just completely went was terrifying.

I agree, a quarter of the way through the match I was thinking we might have a wee chance of getting something, but after the second...... you could see why some folk say football is played with the head just as much as the feet.

Nah we didn't.

They'd had more chances in the first 20mins than they did in the entire first leg.

Think you are being contrary for the sake of it. They created quite a few chances in the first leg, saw it with my eyes but the BBC had it at 14 shots, the official UEFA site had it as 13 shots, with 4 on target. First twenty last night they had four shots, two on target.

Doesn't matter, we were well humped by a far superior side.

The stat that annoys me most is, last week we had 4 players booked, this week we had half that number of fouls against, only 2. What a feeble input from the players.

I'm struggling with the Watt criticism a little. I don't what know the prime reason for bringing him in was; if it was to score goals then I can see the criticism as valid.  As far as I can see though he has been instrumental in creating a large proportion of our goals so in that respect I don't agree with failure idea.

I'm obviously ignoring last night as everyone played woefully.

He's been good in my book, but needs to be told to peel himself away from the touchline more, get closer to Fletcher more often, run diagonals with and without the ball. Look how much havoc AZ were able to cause over two legs with boys making runs between the full back and centre back for instance.

I agree.  The increasing isolation of Fletcher is a concern.

I'd like Watt to cut out the diving antics but I think that's unlikely.  We must have known about it before he signed so can't complain that much.

Did a bit of a dive into Birighetti's recent stats, you kind of see the international caps and just think aye well cant be too terrible.

Past three seasons he has conceded 128 goals in 87 games. He is meant to be 6'2", I am calling for an independent enquiry into that tbh.

They slagged Dundee fans for us signing a washed up, out of shape Leigh Griffiths.

This guy cost them a fee, mega wages and has phoned it in since day dot. An absolute waster.

Ach, he's posted a few tweets though, and that's obviously where the real value is.

I love how the DABS scurry away into their wee hidey holes after a good pumping

I imagine there are a few regretting the payday loan for that debacle

Do I have a legitimate claim against Dundee United Football Club for my dry cleaning bill?

When the 5th went in I pished ma breeks

Fair play to the United fans. Many would go into hiding after a result like that but the likes of @Mark Connolly and @ArabFC and hell, even @Alert Mongoose have just taken it on the chin, had a laugh and moved one.

Noticeably @Granny Dangeris a big fucking shitebag though.

That's a nightly occurrence for you tbf. I'm no lawyer, but don't think our comedy defending can be held to be attributable for your incontinence.

Another way to look at things is that the Funsters were completely absent on our threads after the first leg, had a wee nibble after the Livi result and all came out of the woodwork after last nights result; though that’s understandable.

Maybe the next time Dundee qualify for Europe I will have a……

Wait, what am I saying?

Watt is a good player.

Fletcher is a good player.

I have no fears here, now THAT is out of the way.

The team has yet to gel. They performed brilliantly in the first leg, but all the new signings will still be learning how to play off one another.

Regardless of last night I am still more excited about this team than I have been any other United team in years.

Maybe there should be a safeword for THAT should anyone accidentally mention it?
