Mackay Steven can gtf.

Because he chose to make a few quid and go to Celtic?  Fair enough. I’ve no hard feelings personally. He came in for nothing, entertained us for a few years and then left for a fee. I’d be happy to watch him eek out his twilight years with a few cameo nutmeg appearances.

Disclaimer: I have been out in the sun all day and now making a hefty dent in the local red wine. Probably not the best time to be offering advice on contractual matters.

GMS has zero monetary value, probably costs us a decent wage and isn't very good. If we were somehow able to punt him and avoid the hassle of a tribunal it'd be a win, so "shitting it" seems a bit of a reach.

Any fee for Neilson is covered by the Hickey money banked today, not to mention the millions of guaranteed extra revenue from Europe and additional season ticket sales.

I'm noting it quoted in Edinburgh papers that Hearts didn't include a %age sell on clause in their transfer contract for Hickey. That seems a bit foolish in light of the £18 million reported fee Bologna received.

Yeah, it's reported as a 6 figure fee. One of many clownshoe moves by the club at that time, unfortunately.

I liked him up until his last season when he couldn’t give a shit.  Only performed when the cameras were there.

I have no problem with a player wanting to move to a bigger club and try to develop their career, I think any player worth their salt wants to develop and improve.

Just don’t give up on the club that’s still paying your wages or the fans who are putting their money into that club.

Team fly to Spain tomorrow for a week of training and a game v Port Vale.

Would have liked to have seen another couple signings on board by now, but if they’re of similar quality to Levitt and Fletcher I will forgive the club for taking their time.

GMS should be welcomed back at any point imo. One of the best wingers I've ever seen and the Dynamo Moscow game was one of the best individual performances I've witnessed at Tannadice. Ripped that bloke they spent £20M on apart. Sure, some games he got blootered all over the place and hid but over the piece I think he was a great player for us.

If he had to listen to McNaFortune and co. talk shite and move him onto the wrong side of the park etc then I dont blame him for giving up that last season.

But right now id not be giving up a fee for a young lad for him. Or anyone tbh. Unless it was Harkes, id happily take a jelly bean for him.

Aye, let’s sign Mackay Stevens and Ciftci.  Let’s sign Erik Pedersen whilst we’re at it; always loved wee Erik.

You're been silly now, Erik is 54 years old.

However thats only 2 years older than Mulgrew and Fletcher 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah but I really like him, isn’t that the defining factor?

Because its Erik, i will let it slide. If it was Kjell, id be demanding he started every match

Nothing against GMS. He’s one of my favourite players of recent times. Indeed, I don’t see how he wouldn’t be seen that way by any United fan with half a brain.

The boy was often worth the admission money on his own and that beautiful spell of time when he was basically featuring on the Soccer AM showboat every week was glorious.

And he actually got better as he focussed less on tricks and more on his all round game. As part of ‘that’ front 4, he was just brilliant.

But, let’s face it, he’s past it now as most tricky wingers tend to be when they head into their 30s.

So, thanks, but no thanks.
