flyingscot Posted August 22, 2022 Share Posted August 22, 2022 To be fair, when Ross came into St Mirren we had some decent players (for the championship) but they were being badly managed and nobody couldn't get a tune out of them. Ross started poorly and indeed a few supporters weren't happy (he entered the stands after the QoS game). He chose to turnover a lot of the squad to get his team in during January- Shankland, Tom Walsh, Ryan Hardie, Jason Naismith, Calum Gallacher all left to name a few who were decent enough for that level at that time. That said, things did improve after January remarkably and the team was excellent, but hard not to when we had good players for the division and no surprise we won the league ahead of United the next year with Morgan, McGinn, Magennis etc. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Oh yes, I'm not playing down what Ross did in turning that around, or picking up players from youths or other clubs. I'm more making the point that he had a poor start and needed to get his players in whilst letting good players who didn't fit his ideas go. Dundee United may well be similar- decent players there but not his players to suit the way he wants to play. Once Ross had his players in we only lost 2 games from the end of January and we put 6 past Ayr, 5 on Raith, 4 on Morton and 3 on Dundee United towards the end of the season, which was remarkable had you seen us in November. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I’d like some pointers to show this is the case. 2. He’s shite and has no chance of turning things around. If so United must bite the bullet and get rid of him (and Ashgar too). 3. He was simply looking for a pay off and will retire from football management. Ross may end up getting sacked sooner or maybe later, but the notion of doing so after four league games is fcuking insane! Killie was a fair enough performance for a team just scraped together. Livi was clearly the players having eyes on AZ. And the last two are horrendous but the players confidence has fairly obviously been shot by THAT result. It’ll take time to turn that around. Chefki Kuqi Posted August 22, 2022 Share Posted August 22, 2022 As others have said he's worth giving time. I don't think he'll be the Messiah but he's perfectly competent. One thing I always felt with Jack was that we were perpetually on the up, even if it was fairly gradual and there was disappointment along the way. Obviously when it's this bad its hard to stomach, but once he, the players and the fans do so and carve out a couple of results things will start to look better. You may look to move him on in time but sacking him now does neither the club nor the players any favours.
