oneteaminglasgow Posted November 14, 2020 Author Share Posted November 14, 2020 August 2048 Mixed month - 2 comfortable wins, a massive win against title rivals TPS and a couple of terrible performances and losses thrown in. The loss to KuPS was particularly unacceptable, as they're pish. We also lost to Ilves in the 92nd minute, which was frustrating. Still, the most important game by a mile was the TPS game, and we were the better side - don't think they had any real chances, while we could have scored at least one other goal. The win against TPS, plus a few dropped points elsewhere for them puts us top. 5 games to go, and I can't help but think that if we hadn't completely fucked it up against KuPS and Ilves we'd be all but there. As it is, a point clear, similar goal differences and we've to play them once more. Made our result seem pretty good by comparison, and their goal difference took a pumping, which is lovely. 2 points ahead of TPS, and 4 ahead of HJK. HJK are doing very well at the minute, and continue their charge up the table. That's worrying. Still 2 clear at the top, but we've still to play HJK which could change everything. HJK dropping points is absolutely huge, and means that we're getting very close to wrapping this up. SJK now can't win the title, due to our win, and it leaves us 4 points clear with 6 to play for. Genuinely remarkable collapse - they were going at a rate of 2.18 per game for the first 17 games, and then have gotten 0.67 per game in their last 9. Good news for me though. Spoiler We've done it! A third 0-0 since the split is enough, and we're champions. Game itself was pretty even, both sides hit the bar and we had a goal disallowed correctly for being about 5 yards offside. Means that with one game to go, the table looks like... They never threatened us, and we didn't have to do a lot for our goals, so relatively happy with how it went. Means that the league table finishes up like this. 4 points clear as champions, best goal difference and only 3 losses all season. I had thought that we weren't consistent enough, and 10 draws is testament to that, but noone was particularly great this season.
