What are the things you hate regarding fitba?

1. No.

2 .You've missed the point.

1. Really? The majority of the people from the Highlands are Inverness or Ross County fans? I work in Fife and it is rare to find a Pars or Rovers fan but you're tripping over old firm fans.

2. What was the point? My comment was based on this thread being about what people hate about football. I don't like that the vast majority of football fans support the old firm and especially those who have no links to Glasgow. You don't like people supporting English teams. That's fair enough, I accept that. I am only asking why is it okay for people all over Scotland to support teams from Glasgow but not okay to support a team in England?

You're still missing the point.

Do you have an association with Ayr?

I'm from Troon and have supported Ayr all my life and now volunteer at the club.

The concept of it being about where you live (which is a moveable feast) baffles me, switching team's is weird.

I agree with you as people do move home and they shouldn't change their teams as they do.

The point I am making is you are originally from the area so you have a link to Ayr.

Again, as the thread says the things you hate about football, mine is meeting someone from Invergordon who has lived there his whole life and his family is from there and no link to anywhere in the south of Scotland but is a massive Celtic fan who is lucky to go to Glasgow once a year to watch a match yet he would patronize the idea of him supporting Inverness or Ross County. I have met many people like that all over Scotland. I have been in a work tea shack in Dundee and the football chat is all about the old firm. I wanted to have banter about Dundee teams with them but it wasn't to be. When travelling to places like Middlesboro, Hull and Huddersfield for work it is refreshing to find that is who the locals actually support.

Nevermind.

Why can't you explain it to me? I'm interested to know your point. I'm happy if you don't share my point of view but I have tried to explain mine.

People from Invergordon need to support Rangers or Celtic to make up for their own shit lives Cheering like fuck when they score their 4th at home to Livingston is about as good as it gets for them.

I was referring to people who 'support' multiple clubs at the same time.

Fair enough, I agree with you on that.

I think it's a generational thing though and youngsters today probably support multiple teams, their dads/local team, an English or big champions league team plus there is a trend in youngsters now to support players so kids who supported Real Madrid 4 yrs ago are now Juve fans as they like Ronaldo.

I don't think there's anything wrong with supporting a Scottish club and having a soft spot and looking out for the results of an English club.

Scottish people born and bred who just support a big Barclays club are definitely for the watching.  These people have almost definitely not even been to the city they play in (London, Manchester, Liverpool) let alone been to an actual game.

I know nearly every aspect of the Old Firm rivalry is just a dick measuring contest, but I’ve noticed in the last few seasons that who manufactures their kits is now a big deal and almost a rivalry in itself. I haven’t bought an ‘as new’ football strip in about a decade, so maybe I just don’t get it, but my Twitter is rife with Celtic fans in particular creaming themselves because Adidas are better than the mob Rangers are using. Do people actually care? Also willing to bet these morons are the type who go on about how much they hate the modern game, but will pay hundreds of pounds to kit themselves out in this year’s no doubt unique take on green and white hoops and all the training gear etc. Bizarre.

This is one of the things that really puts me off football and social media has made it worse - this constant tit-for-tat pish.  Who cares who the shirt manufacturer is at a club you don't support?  Same goes for things like Celtic fans fly Palestinian flags so Rangers fans fly Israeli flags.  If Celtic started making a big deal about saving the whales, Rangers fans would be pro-whaling.  If Rangers came out big on saving the whales, Celtic fans would be pro-whaling.  It's pathetic.

People who obsessively go on about the Bundesliga and chastising anyone who doesn't watch it.

I think to support a team you need to have a fairly good reason and also have one clearly established first team, soft spots etc are fine but people from Scotland with no links to England who support an English team are for the watching. I worked with a woman from Glasgow who was a Spurs "fan" because her son supported them (never found out why he did), she was also one of the really annoying pro independence types that does more harm to the cause than good and managed to conviniently like Rangers whenever they got a result against Celtic or in Europe but was nowhere to be seen the days after many of the mental occurences of the past few years. I think that's what actually annoyed me most about her, worked with plenty of Rangers fans who you could have a good laugh and discussion about the games with and never took it too far when they beat us but somehow this Scottish Spurs fan could give it out in spades and not take a single bit back.

Like Rangers waving Hamburg flags because Celtic wave St Pauli flags yet the socialist politics and behaviors that St Pauli practice are an absolute contrast to the commercial capitalist business club that Celtic are.

Then why did De Bruyne, Aubameyang and  Firmino leave for the Premier league. The Bundesliga still employ Kalou as a footballer.
Erm, money? You could go tit-for-tat on the players. Kalou is better than a shit ton of players in the EPL.
