Doing a very fine public service.

Might have been more convincing if there hadn't been so many cyclists doing exactly the same as the driver during the filming.

Can any cyclist on here tell me why they would choose to cycle on the road when cycle paths are available?  I appreciate not everywhere has a cycle path but in my own experience the one that runs alongside the A82 seems underused by cyclists, yet you still find them cycling on a dual carriageway or through the villages such as Old Kilpatrick or Bowling. For the life of me, I can't understand why you'd choose the road over your own dedicated cycle path.

Cycle paths are generally dreadful for road biking.  Usually (with some exceptions) their surface is significantly worse than the road they're parallel to, not just potholes, but large cracks, gravel, twigs, litter, all of which can be extremely dangerous on a road bike.  Then they often stop suddenly for no apparent reason or for road junctions where the road they are parallel to has priority.  You also get pedestrians - either on a solely cycle path, or on the cycle side of shared path.  Finally, there just aren't that many of them - if you want to go for a long ride, you'll have to spend the majority of it on the road anyway.

They certainly have their place and are fine for people riding mountain bikes or tough hybrids, who are pottering about and not concerned about having to stop frequently.
