Stants1902
This. The understanding that I have is that nothing can be "forced through", member clubs will have their say regardless of the proposed structure(s) brought forward.Good to hear!
Big Boab Jnr
Spoiler Think in the interest of fairness it has to be a 20 team league or 17 teams with demotion and Darvel, Cumbernauld and Blantyre promoted. How can you crown champions and declare league places and not promote these clubs. Demotion would probable cause a storm and result in this dragging on far to long. It all needs ratified quickly so we can all move on and prepare for football when its deemed safe to return. I have heard quite a few teams are trying to pick off players from Blantyre and Cumbernauld due to the uncertainty. Obviously Darvel are in a different financial position and can afford to speculate.

Andy groundhopper
Ha I wonder if an spfl club were on the verge of going under - could we have an MK.Dons/Wimbledon situation, some franchise type mob jumping into the spfl bypassing all the nonsense. Stupid idea ? but stranger things happen. How many clubs are likely to jump ship and return to a revamped West League ? if they're demanding their money back

cmontheloknow
Quote Following a video conference this afternoon with the Scottish Football Association, the long running discussions on the setting up of the West of Scotland Football League within the Pyramid have finally been concluded. During the meeting it was made very clear that our Clubs were extremely disappointed that "all in " balanced conferences would not be introduced from season 1, however it was confirmed that option was not on the table. After constructive discussions it was agreed that there will be a top division of 20 teams. This will be made up of the 16 teams from the West Region Premiership plus Darvel Juniors, Cumbernauld United and Blantyre Victoria from West Region Championship and Bonnyton Thistle. The remaining teams will be allocated to balanced conferences. There will be promotion and relegation across the league at the end of season 1. The details of that will be agreed when we have a clearer picture of what the playing season looks like, given all the current uncertainties. This new structure will be subject to formal ratification, required by the Scottish Football Association process, and we can now proceed to move forward to make a success of our new league. lowenan
Should have one more team join, so they can do 3x16 conferences.

Andy groundhopper
Correct, don't need an unbalanced division. Hopefully a 38 game season is possible, remembering the usual postponements etc, find that a bit out of reach to be honest. That would make most cups midweek ? Sure they can find just 1 more club to make up the numbers. All aboard the pyramid, with all leagues and associations working together ! !
andy25
38 games is a ludicrous idea.

Andy groundhopper
I agree,a 20 club league looks hopeful if a season started in August with midweek games. Am surprised the 20 looks the way ahead - should have been something to aim for, by 21/22 maybe ? A 16 team,30 game season may have been the better starting point.

This is not a choice they would have wanted. With 4 x 16/17 conferences at tier 6 ruled out, the decision was made to port over the existing West Premiership (16) + Bonnyton Thistle, transferring from tier 6 South of Scotland league (17). This upset the clubs at the top of the Championship, all denied promotion. This puts them in too for 20. Meanwhile clubs are unhappy elsewhere.
