Conference Call

All teams (outwith the 20)  start at T7 are still only 1 season away from T6.

Nobody has lost out here, and the Junior "big clubs" are there on merit.

Should they lose income from big gates just because the "wee teams" thought they had a chance at a slice of the pie.

What will be achieved staying in junior?

Everyone outside the top 20 clubs have lost out? That’s how I see it? There’s no way they will potentially relegate 7 teams from the premier next season to allow the 3 conference winners to come up. It’ll never happen. So all the clubs signed up expecting to be one season away from tier 6 now find themselves at least 2 years away from tier 6. Even then there’s still a chance the goalposts could change again? It’s comical 😂

Which in itself was flawed as it never considered Tier 6 under the Highland League. The 64 number was from the SFA still trying to get EoSFL, SoSFL, West Region and East Region in together.

Some utter numpties on Twitter that don't understand what has happened and think that a one season conference would have funded the gold-plated bogs the SFA demands. Honestly, travelling supports in top flight are not great outside a few clubs and they'd have got one/two of those. And you might have found Talbot for example might not have taken 300 to Wishaw for a league game.

As if, they brought half that to the West Cup tie a couple of years ago.  The other half must have had a premonition.

Would Talbot accept promotion now to Tier 5 if it was available i.e. subject to the proviso that the floodlights were up in time for next season (whenever that starts))?

Adding Talbot and Bo'ness United to make an 18 club Tier 5 would make for an exciting league and allow a second west club to move up in twelve months time, helping to re-balance things at Tier 5.

LTL

This is a purely theoretical question. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Having said that anything seems possible at present!

As next season is unlikely to start until 2021, maybe two 10 club divisions just to kick things off ? at least you could get a few cups in there as well. All guesswork until the dates come out - when we're 100% safe and well.

Is that not 2 conferences? They're no allowed

One division allowed? Why cannot that be split into two groups? You could call them anything - doesn't have to be conferences.

The main point of concern seems to be the total numbers of clubs in the west at Tier 6 rather than the method used to find the champion club. 20 clubs slit up into two groups of 10 each if the season is short due to the virus should work ok.

Otherwise don't go ahead with so many cup competitions for one season. That would give some more room to fit in fixtures.

That's the way I see it though.

That's why I commented.

Lots of greeting about nothing going on.

The PWG meetings identified that for those leagues participating at Tier 6 it should be the top division within that league which is formally part of Tier 6 – divisions below that will not be Tier 6. The East of Scotland Football League will be moving from three parallel conferences to a structure which has one division at the top. It is that new top division which will form part of Tier 6 for Season 2019/20. Therefore the number of Tier 6 clubs for Season 2019/20 will be 32 (16 from EoSFL and 16 of the 18 clubs in the SoSFL). Ultimately Tier 6 might comprise approximately 64 clubs and this would be a manageable number for the Scottish FA in terms of the JPP process”

This shows that the plan was to have a limited number of clubs at Tier 6 and they would be dealt with directly by the SFA from the point of view of Discipline. However, it also makes it clear that conferences at Tier 6 were approved provided that it was for a single season. cannot get much clearer than that. The precedent was set in 2019.

The real question is why should that not apply again? Who was behind this recent change and why?

Exactly!

If the North Juniors and the NCL come to an agreement with the Highland League to enter the pyramid at Tier 6 then they would also be entitled to SFA governance of discipline. That means up to another 32 clubs. Kicks the 64 club Tier 6 notion off the pitch doesn't it. Or didn't it occur to the SFA that a pyramid may include more clubs from north of the Tay bridge? (Assumes the Tayside clubs don't get to Tier 6 on their own)

To believe that the SFA cannot cope with administering discipline within the pyramid is nonsense. They can afford to provide the necessary staff. Just like they don't want to spend funds on more Licencing staff.

What else do they spend their funds on I wonder? Huge payments to Premiership clubs each season even though the SPFL has significant sponsorship?

What a mess! 38 league games. They'll maybe fit it in if they play four team tourneys on nice weekends.

Galloots!

How many games did Talbot play in 2018/19? Serious question.

I have asked some of the "wee teams" on twitter, what they are moaning about... Were they in a better position to be promoted to the LL with 4 conferences?? .. No they weren't.. They wanted a wee bit of the top teams away support, Pollok, Talbot, Medda, Clydebank etc....... Would the wee teams moaning about it, without being unfair, realistically have a shot, of course they wouldn't...

Correct, what would anybody gain from the Rossvale away support?

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. The 20 teams involved in the top league next season are there on merit, they’ve built there foundations over the years and got themselves into the premier league of junior football so why should all junior teams start at the same level in wosl?

Agree but I think its teams further down the leagues that are unhappy as they aren't getting 'promotion'

Why should a Pollok or Talbot, for example, lose good crowds against each other just so the teams further down get it instead?

As I said above the teams in the top 20 are there on merit.
