Conference Call

38 games is a ludicrous idea.

Not if the number of cup games is kept to a minimum. As people keep pointing out though COVID19 could eadily stop the season from starting when it should, so they may have to find another format for the 20 teams.

Airdrie did that in 2002, bought out Clydebank for a league membership and then later transferred the assets (minus the league license) to UCS

There isn't that much of a difference between the Clydebank and Wimbledon situations tbh, with the exception of there not having been a league team in Milton Keynes previously. Although in Wimbledon's case both the "franchised" club and the "phoenix" club are now in the same division for the 3rd time in 4 seasons. I wonder if a future meeting between Clydebank and Airdrie would be as spicy as it was the first time MK traveled down to play Wimbledon?

As next season is unlikely to start until 2021, maybe two 10 club divisions just to kick things off ? at least you could get a few cups in there as well. All guesswork until the dates come out - when we're 100% safe and well.
Is that not 2 conferences? They're no allowed

Ok so everyone down the conferences will lose games against five four of the top clubs. But at least for the lower ranked clubs there is less chance of one sided games.

For those who were looking to jump others by finishing top 4 in the conferences to get into tier 6 for the following season, instead they now have to finish top of their tier 7 conference. But their competition will be weaker without the five top clubs.

This is how the tier 7 conferences could look. Suppose the question is would the likes of Drumchapel rather try to win their conference below, or try to achieve a top 4 finish up against Auchinleck, Beith, Clydebank, Troon, Blantyre, and Neilston in a tier 6 conference?

First Division Conferences - 47 clubs, PPG, snake split

Woould have been four games and for every Talbot there'd have been a Rob Roy.

People are speculating on what they would do if the season started  as late as January. At that point the SFA would probably be more flexible.

Personally feel a bit pissed off the goalposts have been moved and clubs are being rewarded due to their position in a previous league setup that has nothing to do with this. But the SFA have made their decision and there’s not much that can be done about it.

In terms of clubs lobbying on this, so what. They have to do what’s right for their clubs.

Let’s hope we can move away from all this infighting and start this new era off on the right foot, whenever it finally starts (which I don’t believe will be until at least 2021)

Some utter numpties on Twitter that don't understand what has happened and think that a one season conference would have funded the gold-plated bogs the SFA demands. Honestly, travelling supports in top flight are not great outside a few clubs and they'd have got one/two of those. And you might have found Talbot for example might not have taken 300 to Wishaw for a league game.

Notice the statement is now signed off by Dave McKenna rather than George Fraser. Which club does he come from?
Dave McKenna has been tasked with heading up the WoSFL interim board in his position as Vice Chairman of the Lowland League.

The clubs were informed if this a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe worth upping this, from May 2019:

https://www.clydebankfc.com/club-statement-pyramid/

“Good afternoon all

As you are all aware, discussions have been ongoing for some time around the introduction of additional leagues at tier 6. Unfortunately it has not been possible to find consensus across all parties. The compromise proposal put forward at the last PWG meeting has not found support.

Accordingly, there will be no change to the current Tier 6 format for the 2019/20 season.

The SJFA have agreed to alter their disciplinary rules to mirror the JJP and will proceed on this basis from the start of season 2019/20. The Scottish FA will audit the arrangements put in place by the SJFA.

The Pyramid Working Group will be re-convened during next season.

We are grateful for all the feedback at PWG meetings and directly from clubs at the league general meetings. As well as the geographical imbalance at Tier 6 we are aware that there is uncertainty about the geographical boundary between the Highland League and the Lowland League which is something which can be addressed at a future PWG meeting.

The PWG meetings identified that for those leagues participating at Tier 6 it should be the top division within that league which is formally part of Tier 6 – divisions below that will not be Tier 6. The East of Scotland Football League will be moving from three parallel conferences to a structure which has one division at the top. It is that new top division which will form part of Tier 6 for Season 2019/20. Therefore the number of Tier 6 clubs for Season 2019/20 will be 32 (16 from EoSFL and 16 of the 18 clubs in the SoSFL). Ultimately Tier 6 might comprise approximately 64 clubs and this would be a manageable number for the Scottish FA in terms of the JPP process”
