Coffee Makers

Worth checking out this thread. Really fancy this one but I've just had a shed load of compostable pods delivered from France.

Mines a beauty. Got decent price from amazon not quite perfect site. Beans are incredibly cheap. It also does ground coffee but that's for peasants. 20200409_201507.thumb.jpeg.18edc23180501b496be14387478b335d.jpeg

I just checked and I paid £178.72 from Amazon Warehouse.  My condition was I think just brand new box damage.

Currently they appear to have 5 in stock at £178.19

The condition is lower (Used Acceptable) than what I bought.  Looking at the details most appear to be cosmetic scatches.

Not 100% sure I would myself have bought that condition.

However the current new price is not too shabby at the moment at £237.68

It is amazingly clean in how it deals with all the waste.

I used to have a Gaggia Classic but gave it to a mate before I emigrated, because the European ones built for 220v mains won't work on 110. I loved it, but with these things being built in Italy in relatively small batches and under a ton of boiler pressure, they do pack up fairly often if not really well maintained -  I think mine went twice in 3 years. Fortunately I knew this prior and bought it out of Argos, and took it the extended warranty (I think it was only 20 quid) so that when it fucked up it was their issue and not mine. Unfortunately Argos don't seem to sell them anymore. If I could find one for 150-ish second hand, I'd definitely be tempted, with the understanding I might have to fix a couple of bits or take it to Espresso Services in the Elderpark Workspace for a once-over.

Can I have your home coffee machine recommendations please. Nothing over £250 thank you very much.

What type of coffee do you drink?

This is the biggest bang for your buck - outstanding machines over your £250 limit but from the machines I have used they are miles better https://www.sageappliances.com/uk/en/products/espresso/bes500.html

This is the other end of the scale, flawless for espressos but if you want anything fancier then this wont do the job obviously. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Italian-Coffee-Espresso-Maker-1-Cup-Bialetti-Moka-Express-Stovetop-Single-One-/323690201361

No mess, no cleaning and 50 pods from Amazon for £5.

Yep, got one of these a couple of years ago and it’s been absolutely spot on! Good VFM and a nice cuppa![emoji108]

I've had one of these for about 10 years and its still going strong. It is a bit more specialist that maybe what the OP would be after though, you need a decent grinder, good beans, fiddling about with techniques etc aswell. I believe they changed the way they are manufactured a few years back and the newer ones are not built to the same standard so you really want an older one.  Got my eye on a lelit marax or similar for the next machine but I need to upgrade the grinder as well. Things start to get a bit silly money wise tbh I can't really justify it.

If you just want a nice coffee in the morning then something like an aeropress of a hario V60 will both make a really good coffee for little outlay. Just need to get a hold of decent ground beans (or buy a half decent grinder).

I don't know if a coffee machine for 50 pounds is really good.

Got myself a Russell Hobbs machine recently.  Was just over £60.  I love it and have been switching between beans and ground coffee to see what i prefer day to day.  Can recommend.

That's what I am speaking about - a really good machine can't cost under 50 pounds. If you want a really good technique in your kitchen that will not break in a month better not economize. I had something such. I know what I'm speaking about.

Do you have recommendations for a really good machine costing over 50 pounds? I have a feeling you might

Any links to good machines?

What size coffee maker do you want? Just from the size of the coffee maker and its functions and depends on its price. It is clear that if you want a cool coffee maker with a bunch of bells and whistles, then it is clear that it will cost more than $250. I have a Nespresso citiz Espresso Machine Bundle with Aeroccino Milk Frother by Breville. It costs a little more than $250. But at the same time it has various bells and whistles like in coffee shops. I take the most ordinary coffee on multiple Keurig vs Nespresso reviews. But thanks to the coffee maker, I make coffee like in a café.
