League Reconstruction 20/21 season

It is looking likely that large scale public gatherings At sport events such as Cheltenham, Europa league games in Liverpool, Spain and Italy are being blamed for the larger outbreaks of Covid-19 in these countries.

If these do turn out to be implicated, we will have no public gatherings for at least a year if not longer. No need to rush any chat on new setups

If it's not done now, it won't be done at all. Not saying that's a bad thing, they could just suspend all activity for a month.

If there's a few clubs go belly up there might need to be a re-restructure.

Can you imagine the bun fights and caterwauling should reconstruction talks last longer than a month?

Not that the recriminations, regardless of outcome, won't continue on for much longer than that.

Was that the one Ross County & St Mirren put the kybosh on?

If their opinion hasn't changed, it's not worth even making the proposal. Uou would think they'd be sounded out.

Yes: when Stuart Milne accused Gilmour of ruining Scottish football, after voting against changing the voting structure himself. What a fucking dick that man is.

Take a year out. Season can start again next March and be finished.

If the football can't start back up again until January then just as well waiting another few months.

Impossible. Players age, contracts expire etc. The only club who could survive a year without football up here is Celtic and even they'd likely struggle.

It's all about priorities.

Its a good start for a joke though...there was an Irishman sitting in an English parliament worried about a Scottish football league decision in the midst of a global pandemic...

Clubs could be mothballed and return as and when.

We certainly shouldn’t and won’t be taking into account the financial state of clubs when deciding when to restart football.

Campbell is not the worst of the empty vessel DUP types, but he's clearly a man with an agenda.

He voted against LGBT issues in schools in England, along with 7 (seven) of his colleagues, despite the issue actually being devolved in Northern Ireland and that any measures passed by the law would have absolutely no effect within their jurisdiction.

Further details can be found here: https://inews.co.uk/news/education/lgbt-sex-relationship-education-mps-support-504670

Let us be in no mind, the DUP representatives are flag wavers for intolerance at each and every level of life.

Aye but a new season would have to start next March. You can't play 30 games with one squad then the last 8 games and the most important games with another squad. This season one way or another has to end with current squads.

In the bad old days, which I fondly remember as it's all I knew, whenever a "big" team e.g. Motherwell, Partick, St Mirren, even Falkirk and Airdrie, f****** up and managed to get themselves relegated, they usually strolled the lower division. Inevitably one of the promoted duo got relegated e.g. East Stirlingshire, Ayr United, Hamilton Academical, Arbroath, Cowdenbeath - Raith Rovers and Dumbarton managed a couple of sesons before going back down (although Dumbarton technically weren't relegated) - along with a.n other (usually Stirling Albion until they gave up trying to get promoted).

Even Morton, St Johnstone and Clyde were yo-yo clubs late 50s, early 60s. QoS also were usually relegation fodder on their odd trips upstairs, iirc.

I'm sure if there were two big divisions again, a "big" team going down would waltz away with Division Two. However, because of the change in football finances - bosmans, pre contracts, European money etc, there are never going to be two big divisions.

Dumbarton managed tenth in their second of three seasons in the old eighteen team first division which was pretty decent for a club our size. And fourteenth the following season which would have seen us comfortably stay up if the leagues hadnt been reorganised

Oh yeah there’s no question about that. This season is finished.

The question now is when the next season will start and what shape it will take. A half season from around January 2021 or even just wait till July 2021 and start a full one from there.

Yes, there is no perfect solution. Clubs can close down for the time being. The playing squads will be a little different as some players move on.

If we are going to pretend Celtic are champions then that should be easy enough, we can do that, we pretend Rangers are Rangers.

But I think the season should be played out as and when.

Why? What is sacrosanct about "same squads" - as opposed to, say, completing the league programme? Other than it suits your team, of course.

The entity that matters is the club, not this  particular year's random collection of players. The transfer window restrictions as we know them are less than 20 years old.

If you're letting clubs effectively run playerless, then a huge amount of players will simply walk away from the game entirely.

This is going to happen in the lower leagues anyway,Jim Duffy said last night his whole squad are out of contract in June.
