Yet we still are not allowed to play any professional football in this country yet. Why they have to keep talking about other countries with different governments is baffling.

Professional sport has been allowed since June 22. Contact football has been allowed since July 11th.

Of course there's no chance, had the SPFL chosen to make finishing the league a priority instead of rushing into a hasty decision, they could have spent several months trying to get those contact games moved forward a week and at the same time push back the start of the next season a week (and cancel the League cup for one season if needed) to allow at least a full month to play the final games.

No chance at all. Just crazy talk that that could ever have been a possibility. If European places had to be sorted by a date they could have stuck to that date  and given the spots to whichever clubs were in the Euro spots by that date. Or if none of that was really possible, they could at least have played the final relegation/promotion playoffs. They could have been playing those right now in fact.

5 (relegations) - 1 (administration)

I admin leading to relegation. I unfair demotion during a pandemic. 3 "normal" relegations. At least we never took 3 years to get promoted mind you.

And games have to be played before August 8th, giving you 28 days  to play the rest of the season.

Meaning that to complete the season, players would have to play 2-3 games per week - without any training beforehand.

SFA rules mean that you cannot play games on consecutive days, meaning that, if you want training, you get a maximum of 11 days training (plus rest), followed by an extremely punishing schedule of 8 games in 17 days. For Rangers and St Johnstone, that's 9 games and less training. That's a recipe for injury damage across the entire league - but what's a few cruciate ligaments if it's standing in the way of Hearts not being relegated, eh?

Give it a fucking rest with the 'the league could be played' shit. Not even Heart of Midlothian football club believes that - they assented to ending the season (the Premiership wasn't ended by the disputed vote, but by an SPFL consultation and board meeting a month afterwards) and there is no mention of playing out the league in their petition. It is a dead argument, and you lost it long ago, just as you lost the league on the pitch. Hearts petition is all about reconstruction or compensation.

Arguing about playing the rest of the league is as futile and pointless now as arguing about what would have happened had JFK not been assassinated or had Albert Kidd taken up badminton instead of fitba'. You lost. Get over it. Stop greetin'.

Why bother, when all the clubs wanted was certainty and only Hearts, Partick and Stranraer would whine about it? Nobody knew if football could continue this year, contracts were coming to an end, it was by far the simplest solution, and the toddler antics of Hearts have provided great entertainment for us all to make up for the lack of football.

How's that worked out for everyone?

Scotland is not alone in the way it's handled COVID. Even if we are a couple of weeks behind other countries in coming out of lockdown, all we would have had to do was delay the start of the next season. If UEFA needs European spots by August 1st or whatever date, we just set a date and the European spots go to whatever clubs are in the Euro spots on that date if the league is still being finished. Contact football started July 11. We could have played the last games within a month from that date (and delay the start of the next league) or we could have pushed for contact games to happen a bit earlier.

You'd know. It's like a convention of very special people on here.

Special people who live in a world where "difficult" means impossible, where everything is set in stone and nothing can change month to month our week to week,  and where it's possible to predict the outcome of 8 games with absolute certainty to know who gets relegated or whatever (you must all be very rich from the bookies special people), a world where a gap of 4 points is insurmountable, and a world where Scottish football fans think the people running our game are competent.

Also a world where, when two teams say 3 months ago "We'll take legal action if relegation happens" you then do everything you can to make that relegation happen - then complain about the legal action your were told about months ago.

Special.

How many games where to go still?

Sometimes things simply are unfair. It's why we have a legal system.

Maybe you'll need it sometime to argue against your restraining order.

No we couldn't. The Scottish Cup is still ongoing. The Nations cup is still ongoing and the Euro 2020 playoffs are still to be played, and there might even be delayed Europa/Champions League cup games fucking up the schedules. On top of what's left of the League Cup, Ian Blair of the SPFL has gone public stating that there is only one matchweek of leeway for the 2020/21 season. If we have more than one day of bad winter weather in Scotland, causing postponement or del;ay, then there will be a fixture pileup.

Delaying the start of the 2020-21 season to fit eight 2019-20 games in is simply impossible. There is no room in the schedule (at least in the top flight. You seaside league teams have a bit of a reprieve, but you don't want to play behind closed doors, so it's moot.

What are you saying here, that that would be..... unfair?

Surely not, unfairness doesn't;t exist as a thing anymore. You just need to take your medicine no matter what.

No. You are not listening. I am saying it would be *dangerous*. You're advocating messing with the health of all the players in the Premiership to save yourselves some embarassment at being the laughing stock of Scottish fitba'.

The Scottish Cup doesn't need to be ongoing. That's a whole other discussion. There could have been room. As you say, we'll never know. My point is the SPFL closed the door to that possibility far too early for no reason (or whatever the reason was is currently being argued about in private at arbitration because the SPFL are so fucking embarrassed by their reasoning and actions they don't want any of it to get out to the public.

The Scottish Cup is entirely outwith the scope of the SPFL. The SPFL can't call off the cup, only the SFA can.

Don't be daft. The league might not have been able to have been finished. But it might have. Point is the option was taken off the table far too early.
