Should be good. Its basically a Junior Cup to many. All that's missing is a potential trip to the Highlands and minus a handful of recognisable names still in the Juniors. And you've got the Borders trips plus old school names like Berwick Rangers, East Stirlingshire and Spartans that most will now to replace those.

I think they should do it. Not necessarily on those dates. But one week basically in their pre-season. It would be a good tool to help promote the upcoming 2020-21 edition.

Have the final as a showpiece event in the Sunday of the weekend of the first round. I think that would draw interest!

When looking at the list of entrants I was wondering why there were only 23 EOS First Division teams in there, until I realised Stirling University can't enter 2 teams.

That's one thing in which Scottish football is better than Dutch football as in The Netherlands it is possible to have 2 teams of the same clubs in the same competition...

Preliminary round: 32 fixtures, 144->128; First round 128->64 etc.

32 Preliminary round fixtures would involve 64 clubs and reduce 144 entrants to 112.

To cut 144 cubs down to 128 there would need to be 16 preliminary fixtures (involving 32 clubs!)  with 112 getting byes.

So why do we still need the sjc, surely this replaces it

It was a sweetener for the SJFA to have a role in football nationwide. It’ll create a fixture logjam and, in my opinion, will last only a season or two unless there is a national non league cup that TJ can run.

And that idea can sink to the bottom of the deepest ocean. TJ can stay as far away from running anything to do with the pyramid as is humanly possible.

The wosfl does not need sjfa input in anyway, not even for a cup. The clubs can elect their own committee that can drive things forward and are forward thinking, not being run by those stuck in the past and in it for themselves.

The SJFA will never get the Highland League on board as they won't be able to provide the funding to make it worthwhile for them. If you don't have the Highland League you don't have a national non-league cup within the pyramid.

It's going to take the SFA to get all the pyramid leagues involved. So it'll be up to their members promoting the idea in Non-Professional Game Board/Professional Game Board type meetings to sway the blazers into backing the idea.

Right now there's the Scottish Cup and as proven the South Region Challenge Cup competition wise fills the void.

So renewing junior membership only really benefits clubs who wish to play in the junior Cup?

Yes. If you're in the WoSFL all that being a member of the SJFA is participation in the Junior Cup. That has not yet even been confirmed as it requires changes to the SJFA constitution. It is entirely possible that those leagues that have remained Junior in the North and East will try to block that participation as the changes don't necessarily benefit them.

There is no point in SJFA membership if you don't enter the Scottish Junior Cup. That's the only reason it is being suggested as an option. And it still isn't confirmed that it will be allowed.

"The annual subscription for each club shall be £35 and shall be payable before the Annual General meeting in each year."

The fee is quite modest really and I suppose that if clubs wished, they could field a development side in order to retain a link with their roots.

Would it be worth Talbot putting out their full side if they draw for example Sauchie Juniors Community?

From what i've seen said, one of the reasons the subscription is so low is because of the things like fines. The SJFA are about to lose a majority of their income from fines and reinstatement fees from the loss of the West Region and East Region clubs.

So the SJFA might have to reassess its current operating model to continue to administer support to the regions and cup competition.
