Stephenafc
Statement || Arthurlie FC and Barrhead Youth FC Affiliation Arthurlie Football Club is delighted to announce a new affiliation with Barrhead Youth Football Club (BYFC) with immediate effect. This will augment our existing structure which includes Arthurlie Juniors Youth Football Academy and a newly established Arthurlie FC Amateurs for season 2020-21, thus creating a pathway from under 6s through to senior football. Arthurlie FC has this year joined the newly established West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) at conference level, which is part of the Scottish senior football league structure. This new league setup creates a fully integrated route for progression through the football pyramid – something that did not exist previously and we believe that this will have a very positive impact within the community and beyond. Barrhead Youth Football Club (BYFC) was established in 2013 and evolved from the Barrhead Boys Club which had existed since 1972. BYFC operates 15 teams from under 6s through to adults in the Amateur setup. This also includes two girls teams and two teams that play on a Sunday. BYFC has 77 coaches overseeing a total of approximately 500 players. We hope that this venture will be a legacy that provides a youth development pathway for future generations to come. Jim Hannigan, Secretary of Arthurlie FC says; “This is an exciting year for the club as we have joined the new WoSFL. This is part of the Scottish football league pyramid which gives us an unprecedented opportunity to progress. We are committed to our community and the development of our young people through football and look forward to a long and successful partnership with BYFC to augment our existing academy structure.” Graham Vance, President of BYFC says; “We are delighted as a club to finally build this relationship with Arthurlie Football Club. The Arthurlie committee and management have been tremendous with our players and club over the last few years so it is great to formally create a link. I am also delighted that the academy teams have been in full conversation about building this link. The most important thing is creating opportunities for players, coaches, parents and supporters of the club. This is a hugely exciting time for everyone, here’s hoping we can get back to kicking a ball soon. Stay safe and take care.”

Satori.
Brilliant and long overdue . No doubt in my mind Arthurlie will benefit greatly from this. BYFC are a really well run outfit with coaches who know exactly what they are about. Well done to everyone involved in bringing this to fruition. Things are most definitely looking up for Arthurlie but its only another step in the effort to make us a great club again. A wee chink of light at the end of a very long tunnel. Once again well done everyone.

There were some West sides in the league last season and it's said that these clubs are applying/have applied with others showing interest: Bellshill Athletic Clydebank Rossvale FC Shettleston Juniors Troon Vale of Leven

Yes that is correct and I have my reasons for it too ..... Before you try to dish anyone on here have a look closer to home (Doon the brae) as you have a BellEnd on your committee that has criticised other teams, players, coaches, fans, facilities, plastic pitches (See that you are looking to get a super dooper new one to replace your grass pitch ... Duh) but its not okay to give it back? PS .... I am still waiting on your reply as to what new facilities you say that Galston Youth will now have access to? If you have any issues then please keep it to Darv€l thread & I will happily respond

Across the UK the youth set up is brilliantly organised.TBF that’s been happening for the last few season. We have had at least 7 boys come either from our 21s or BYFC. Our best players the last 2 seasons have arguably been 2 of our youngest. In fact our longest serving player came through our academy (although at 2 and a half seasons it also shows the turnover!)
iaind
It’s vital for Arthurlie to have a link with the local youth set up, over the years a lot of Barrhead talent have went to Beith because of the Johnny Miller connection, but I think we have seen a change there recently. We now have a manager and team that will give young guys a chance.

St. Cadocs will arguably be a bigger pull than Beith now. Loads of cash there and we will never compete financially. Still i'm hopeful we will get some good lads from the new set up.
