BTID
Must be looking at 3 conferences now eh? Would be great to have a prestigious lowland league cup with everyone involved. Could the highland 20s get involved for a national?
Andy groundhopper
Are these under 20's the second team below the first teams ? or does the West have a reserve set up ? Be really good to have so many young sides coming through, making the league's stronger and good for the future.
parsforlife
U20s is basically 2nd team. There’s allowances for playing overage players to cover guys coming back from injury etc. even the spfl reserve league is not much different to what the old u20 league was. In terms of the sides put out they are very rarely not mostly kids. Apart from 2/3 clubs (of + hearts running a bloated squad just now) there isn’t a single side in Scotland who can play 2 sides of senior pros.
Ped
I think for the smaller teams in the west the development league with all eligible for top team is a great way forward allows teams who typically run with smaller squads to play youngsters instead of trying to scramble the amateurs for players if they have Injuries
Andy groundhopper
Will the 20's games be played on the Friday as the Lowland Lge does ? and I'm guessing they'll be chasing the grounds that currently have lights - the 3g pitches etc. All encouraging stuff though, another positive step forward.

The U20s league is run by the Lowland league and yes all games will be on a Friday evening. There were 29 teams at the end of this season just when lockdown started, (mostly made of of East region sided teams bar about 6 or 7 teams) but next season I believe there is somewhere near in the region of 40 teams so it looks like there will be a West divisions and maybe two east divisions Edited May 16, 2020 by Bestsinceslicebread
passbackdave
The friday night games r brilliant at hp and our boys put on a show. There a real bunch of talented boys and our manager sees this also as wed had about 8 from last years 19s squad playing for the 1st team last season so the friday night league defo helps us and will help loads of other wosl clubs. Our coaches at 19s who now r our 20s coaches have been pushing for this for a while n it gives ye a buzz seeing so many young lads playing for 1st team. This could be the start of something really good. Well done all the other west clubs who have 20s teams also. Mon the papers
geo87
With the absolute clusterfuck happening across scottish football right now this is the one ray of light I am genuinely excited about. The more senior sides that can establish links with local youth teams the better. There are plenty of established well run boys clubs out there to form these links with so I would like to think this will become the norm over the coming years. It has to be mutually beneficial though with a genuine pathway for these boys for it to work in the long term.
OnTheGround
Shettleston announcement.. Well after announcing a few weeks back that we were moving to the West of Scotland U20 Development League, it turns out that there wasn’t even enough teams to create a league in the first place This means that we will be continuing in the West of Scotland U21’s Championship for Season 2020/2021.

parsforlife
Somebody at shettleston has got themselves in a right tangle. I wonder if someone in the SYFA is up to the sort of stuff we’ve seen from the junior authorities in attempt to stop clubs leaving

Very strange, it's like they've been talking to a different person from the Lowlands U20s Gary McLelland, calling it the SPFL WOS dev league in their 22nd April Facebook post: "For Shettletson Juniors U21’s, this brings an end too our time in Under 21s football - as we plan to move into Friday night Football for next season in the SPFL West of Scotland U20 Development League(awaiting final confirmation), as our Senior side Shettleston Juniors FC applied and have been accepted into the SPFL West of Scotland League Tier 6" I did notice Neilston asking for an application form so they might be joining as well. So for some just getting to terms with the WoSFL, it seems like an offshoot of that. Rather than a continuation/expansion of the existing Lowland u20 Development League set up.
