Rutherglen Glencairn 2020-21

Recommended Posts

Wonder if this week’s developments will make a few clubs change their mind on staying a member of the SJFA?
Time will tell on that one.

It should be said, though, that this week's events were not a factor in this decision. Our committee decided a number of weeks ago that we would not be renewing our membership of the SJFA. With the renewal forms having been sent out to the member clubs today, we felt now was the appropriate time to make our decision known. As was right and proper, the SJFA were informed of our decision and an acknowledgment was received before we released our statement.

We are pleased to confirm that central defender Mick O'Byrne will join the club when his contract expires with Kilbirnie Ladeside next month. Mick, who is 31 years old, was Kilbirnie's captain. Mick has played 142 matches at senior level with Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, Livingston, Airdrieonians and Stirling Albion, before joining Linlithgow Rose and then Kilbirnie Ladeside for the past five years.IMG_20200528_192443.jpeg

We are pleased to confirm that right back / midfielder Jackson Biggar will join the club when his contract expires with Rossvale later this month. Yes, unfortunately. [emoji35] The damage is now repaired, thanks to the hard work of our manager Willie Harvey and groundsman Eddie Smith on their Sunday afternoon.

We have the police involved now, and the local MP. It's about time the authorities in Rutherglen helped out their local football team with this issue. We've been asking for help for over a decade now.

A local resident who is doing some great community work in the scheme is also coming in to see us during the week, so hopefully we might get something happening this time.

F*cking pond life scum!!

A community club like Glencairn need support from everyone & not this behaviour by a minority of vandals.

Glad to hear some positive engagement and hopefully an isolated incident.

Unfortunately it's far from an isolated incident.

Labelling kids like this is too simple. Unless you work with young people it can be difficult to understand their life choices sometimes.

Sounds like this fella that Glensmad is talking about has a handle on the young people in the community and will probably be best placed to help.

It's a frustrating and usually unfathomable situation but too easy to jump up and down with rage on an internet forum.

Hope it works out GM.

The club has tried engaging with this crowd as it is the same crowd doing the damage over and over again but no matter what they try they just keep coming back and doing more damage They just don’t want to listen they are there at night time drinking smoking hash and breaking bottles all over the face and I know they have also damaged fencing over and over again I ask the question how do you stop it if their parents don’t give a dam

We are pleased to confirm that striker Ciaron Smith has renewed his contract with the club for season 2020-21. Ciaron (24 years old) joined from Cambuslang Rangers a week before the season stopped prematurely, and so far has only made one substitute appearance in the Champions Cup semi final match against Auchinleck Talbot.IMG_20200609_190831.jpeg

Today is the 10th anniversary of the appointment of manager Willie Harvey at Rutherglen Glencairn. Also arriving at the club 10 years ago today were assistant manager Joe Pryce and Under 21s co-managers Alex McArthur and Andy McFadyen. Willie, Joe and Alex continue in their roles as the club moves forward, while Andy is moving on to be manager of Arthurlie. We would like to thank all four for their tremendous commitment to our club over the past decade. [emoji460][emoji469]Willie%20Harvey.jpeg
