Any idea how this will work yet? Is there going to be a 1st div/conference league feeding into a wos premier league? How will this be decided? I'd imagine a season would be played to determine who's going to be in the premier league if that's the case. What teams will be joining? Junior football, what's the future thread may have covered this already but it's thousands of pages long consisting of childish insults to one another.

All the details are in the "Junior Football What Is The Future?" Thread. Yer better going there to keep abreast of goings on but it's a hell of a slog to get all the basics without a lot of trawling so the basics are...

All the teams in the Junior West Region are joining as well as Drumchapel PYM from the ammies and Bonnyton from the SoS and two other teams have applied - the consensus is the two unknown teams are youth teams looking to create a senior side but no confirmation on that or if they will be accepted. One seems to be St. Cadocs from Newton Mearns.

The clubs will be seeded based (roughly) on their position in the junior league and drawn into four or five conferences of (theoretically) equal quality. I think the original idea was for four but COVID19 might mean smaller leagues are needed if it takes time to get the league up and running again.

Whatever it is the winners of each league will play off and the overall champion (if licensed) will play off v SoSFL and EoSFL winners for promotion.

Then the positions in the conferences will be used to decide who makes the WoSFL Premier League and then the league below and so forth. No details yet if these lower divisions will be regionalised or whatever. That will be for the clubs to decide.

Anyone coming from the juniors can maintain their junior membership and play in the Junior Cup but the WoSFL and South Challenge Cup fixtures take precedence over the Junior Cup.

The South Challenge Cup will be a revelation for fans from the former West Region Juniors who love the away day trips.

70 teams to be joined by a possible 68 from the West.

Away days in the Challenge Cup could be anywhere from Perth to Berwick and right across to the clubs in the Solway Firth area.

Plus a few new local derbies, Kello v Nithsdale Wanderers, EK FC v EK Thistle, Cumbernauld Utd v Cumbernauld Colts. Plus the Junior Cup for those that wish it.

Happy days

Far more interesting than the tired old Scottish Junior Cup in my personal opinion.

Have any new local derbies really took hold in the East yet? From memory there's wasn't much crossover anyway with the EoSFL being an Edinburgh/Borders league and Juniors being more Lothian/Fife

Tbh, never knew much about the Challenge Cup until a Clydebank fan posted something on social media about it. Obviously the poster was looking at it from a fans day out point of view. In these days of cabin fever a day trip to Berwick or Castle Douglas seems almost magical.

It is a good cup, really enjoyed our journey to the semis this year, only to be stopped by covid.

Disappointing for us but it was a good cup to play in.

Hopefully it can continue to grow as the west side of the pyramid enters the equation.

Been confirmed that St. Cadocs were accepted but the other applicant was not. So 67 teams now. Mostly likely spread across 4 conferences. Three of 17 and one of 16 (although, in theory, it could be 68 depending on who gets relegated from the Lowland League)

*edited for shite maths

Whitehill v Penicuik and other Midlothian teams is the most obvious new derby, they played in Scottish Cup PR2.

Also Preston and Ormiston v other East Lothian teams. Edinburgh United v Tynecastle (and other capital clubs).

Burntisland (and Inverkeithing I suppose) v Glenrothes this season. Next season both of those will have Kirkcaldy and Rosyth respectively, amongst all the other Fife teams.

67 ... 63 West Region plus Bonnyton, Glasgow Uni, Drummy Utd and St Cadocs

But has a local rivalry developed yet or is it still just another game (albeit a bit closer to home)?
