Clubs positioned in higher placed leagues will propose, or agree to, whatever they think will give them the opportunity to stay in said league for longer. Keeping clubs from underneath in their 'place' so to speak.

It doesnt make it right, but it appears to be the norm and has been for years. Why else would we have a playoff to get into the spfl in the first place?

What is really being said is that there will be no relegation from a number of leagues/divisions this time around. Then they're apparently suggesting that, as the Lowland League isn't relegating anyone it is fair game to follow this route.

If that is what it is then perhaps the Lowland League should grasp this opportunity to state that they are amending their rules to allow for the promotion of two Tier 6 clubs at the end of next season and the relegation of its' bottom two clubs down to Tier 6.

Wouldn't this place the SPFL in a highly embarrassing position?

Surely, if the SPFL is following the Lowland League's lead then the SPFL would be obliged to accept  that its' two bottom clubs would be automatically relegated each season.

After all it's supposed to be a pyramid isn't it?

Sauce for Goose etc...……...

No it would have no bearing at all

They are just taking advantage and trying to keep clubs like Kelty out for a wee bit longer! Also I'm sure there's a financial benefit too to a 42 team set-up rather than 44!

No that depends on how any financial distribution model amendments are made

Some amount of bricking it from the League 2 clubs this season,we had the debacle only a couple of months ago of Brechin who on their probable way to relegation were trying to weedle a route into the LL,because they fancied it more, now we have the scandalous 14/14/14 proposal to keep Brora and Kelty where they are for a bit longer.

All this before the mighty Auchinleck Talbot show up,cannot wait for the seethe, its gonna be something.........

Isn't the entire point of SPFL reconstruction so that the three clubs in relegation places don't go down?

Yet Clyde, Peterhead and Forfar effectively go down! In the 14 14 14 self preservation society

If the league remains unchanged then so does the prize money. Ultimately these clubs don’t care about what the league they play in is called so long as the prize money isn’t reduced due to increasing the size of the SPFL.

I could be wrong here but with the new improved Sky TV deal starting next season then surely the money is there to accommodate two extra clubs in a 14-14-16 without reducing the prize fund for the existing 42?

Is the prize money for all existing 42 members of the SPFL getting an increase next year?

Even if they do nobody will be going up. Kelty must be absolute pig sick a ton of cash spent for nothing not even a scottish cup run.

Here's hoping they can survive this like all other teams.

What’s the point of it all then ?? Closed shop for the old guard , kelty and a few others are coming but they will probably move the hurdles again , rant over worse things going on right now but still this reeks o pish

If this happens and no promotion from LL or HL and no automatic relegation is included in the reconstruction I for one will convert my efforts into going back Junior.

it will be nothing short of a disgrace especially if Cove and Edinburgh are involved. A fair promotion relegation from league 2 will show that those lingering at the bottom being replaced by their non league equivalents as an annual thing and might even galvanise those who have stagnated like Cowdenbeath and Brechin.
