CM.
December 2009 The 2 Europa League results mean we qualify as group winners and progession to the semi final of the League cup was also achieved but the league performances, minus the derby victory, ranged from average to fucking awful. We were 2 down at Sunderland before a second half fightback and Burnley had more than their fair share of opportunities to take something. That was my first away win since October which is a frankly alarming stat that needs addressed if there's any hope of winning trophies. I'm actually lucky I got as much points as I did this month. Dropped a couple of places in the table as a result. In the league cup, history has (sort of) repeated itself as I mirrored the real life scenario of meeting Man Utd in the 2 legged semi final. Let's hope we can go one better.. And in the Europa League, both the round of 32 and round of 16 draws were made and I could potentially face a battle of Britain in the round of 16.. And finally in the FA cup 3rd round draw a favourable tie with a home game against Championship opposition.
CM.
January 2010 Players in Players out Glad Elano is finally offski after moaning for about a year. Saivet and Rossi look ones for the future and have been loaned out straight away. They join a long list of talent in my reserves Spoiler Anyway, to the form. Another shite month. Got absolutely hammered in the second leg at Old Trafford and 1 win from 4 league games. Villa was another game I was 2 down and managed to rescue a draw. Would progression in the FA Cup be a slight saving grace? Spoiler Phew! I might not be in a job for much longer as we languish 7th in the table and have plenty of work to do to meet the boards objective of a top 4 finish. February sees a slightly kinder run of league fixtures bar Everton away so here's hoping the gap can be reduced. I do have my European tie and FA Cup 5th round at home to Reading aswell though so another busy schedule. Edited May 6, 2020 by C. CM.
February 2010 Much better apart from the Europa League exit. Second leg looked to be heading for penalties until a sucker punch from Schalke towards the end of extra time. Still not convincing scorelines in the main, but wins are all I give a f**k about at the moment after a poor couple of months. The hidden goalscorer from the West Ham game? A first for the club for... Spoiler League table looking a lot easier on the eye now. Chelsea look like they'll run away with it (they won 4-0 at Old Trafford this month) but if I can kick on then 2nd doesn't look out of reach. Modric is back from injury too and playing well which is a big plus. Edited May 6, 2020 by C. Muir
CM.
March/April/May 2010 As March and May were relatively quiet I decided just to update all these months at once. FA Cup exit to Villa at the quarter final stage was disappointing. Was heading for a replay until they scored a last min winner. Has this league run been enough to secure Champions League football for Man City for the first time? Spoiler YES!
CM.
Let's now compare this campaign to the real life Man City's. On 17/04/2020 at 12:40, C. Muir said: SEASON 2 - 2009/2010 To begin lets have a reminder of how the real life Man City got on that year. Premier League - 5th League Cup - Semi Final - lost 4-3 on agg to Man Utd (Premier League) FA Cup - Round 5 (last 16) - lost 3-1 in replay to Stoke (Premier League) after 1-1 draw Top scorer - Carlos Tevez Player of the year - Carlos Tevez *No European involvement this season* I know the above 2 awards won't be repeated as Tevez signed a new deal to remain at Man Utd in my game FM Man City Premier League - 4th League Cup - Semi Final - lost 4-2 on agg to Man Utd (Premier League) FA Cup - Round 6 (Quarter final) - lost 2-1 to Aston Villa (Premier League) Europa League - Round of 32 - lost 3-2 on agg to Schalke Top scorer - Fabio Quagliarella Player of the year - Razvan Rat So despite the struggles at times I've improved in every competition from last season, and also slightly bettered the real Man City's 2009/10 campaign. 1 goal off the exact same result in the Manchester derby League cup semi final, getting that would've been quite something! Razvan Rat voted player of the year for the 2nd season running. What a buy at only £2.7m.
CM.
Cup Finals and Scottish Leagues 2009/10 Last season I done all the English leagues and brief updates on foreign leagues too but I can't really be arsed with all that again so will just stick to the domestic cup finals, European finals and all the leagues and cups in Scotland. Anything anyone would like to know about anything I haven't covered just ask. League Cup Spoiler FA Cup Spoiler Europa League Spoiler Champions League Spoiler Arsenal succesfuly defend their title! Scottish Premier League Spoiler Scottish First Division Spoiler Very tempted to take over Clyde and run it as a seperate save Scottish Second Division Spoiler Scottish Third Division Spoiler League Cup Spoiler Some excellent penalties it seems in that shootout! Scottish Cup Spoiler Another penalty shootout loss for the blue half of Glasgow to ensure a trophyless campaign. CM.
SEASON 3 - 2010/11 After meeting expectations for the previous 2 campaigns, they notched up a good bit for season 3. How did the real Man City do that season and does the comparison render my expectations fair? Premier League - 3rd - finished 9 points off eventual winners Man Utd League Cup - 3rd round - lost 2-1 to West Brom (Premier League) FA Cup - winners Europa League - round of 16 - lost 2-1 on agg to Dynamo Kyiv Top scorer - Carlos Tevez Player of the year - Vincent Kompany So the real stuff starts here as City won a trophy that season, and I'd also count finishing 9 points from the top a title challenge. Let's hope the board see it that way if I finish about that off the top Players in Akinfeev will go straight in as first choice keeper (I have plenty options there with Hart, Given and Kasper Schmeichel too!). Annoyingly Bale can't play AML in this version so I'll need to try and train him in that position or tweak my formation slightly to play with ML and MR instead of AML and AMR to fit him in. Not interested in using him at left back. I was a little quieter on the ins front this summer, mainly because all the talented youngsters I signed at the start of the save are at ages where their development will suffer if they don't get more playing time. I know I could loan them all out but more often than not it's garbage like Oldham and Carlisle who bid rather than teams playing at a decent level. So the likes of Alderweireld, Helan, Wijnaldum, Muller, Saviet, Rossi, Thiago and Lewandowski will all be in and around the first team this season. Neymar has been loan listed though as he's only just turned 18 in it so will benefit from game time where ever it is. John Fleck has also been offered out on loan as he looked out his depth any time I played him in the first team towards the end ot the season. Players out
CM.
August 2010 Premier League Perfect start. Would still like some more convincing scorelines though. Champions League Nowadays I believe all the top 4 go into the Champions League group stage automatically but back in this day, 4th had to play the final qualifier, which matched me up with a very tough prospect in Villarreal. How did we get on? First leg Spoiler Second leg Spoiler There's something that the kop City want you to know The best in the world his name is Bobby firmino Oscar Cardozo Our nuuuuumber niiiine Give him the ball and he'll score everytime Siiii senorrrr Pass the ball to Bobby Oscar and he'll score I was seeded 3rd so anticipated a tough group stage draw but confident I can finish 2nd in my group of Real Madrid, Feberbahce and NK Dinamo (who's keeper is Tomas Cerny and they also have Dejan Lovren and Milan Badelj).
