The SPFL recommendation?

The SPL organised the SPL fixture list, but Airdrie played in the SFL, who had their own fixture list. Therefore the SPL were correct that if Falkirk couldn't guarantee primacy over the ground, then the SPL's fixture list would have been contingent on the SFL fixture list, which was controlled independently by a different body. Any time the SFL rescheduled a fixture, it could have affected the SPL fixture list.

Celtic groundshared with Queen's Park before the SPL started, when both clubs were still playing under the same organisation (the SFL), so the same person controlled the fixtures for both teams, just as was the case with ICT/Aberdeen and Gretna/Motherwell.

Problem being noone in the top.flight was willing to let us groundshare back then so basically that leaves you with nowhere to go if you cant share with a non top flight side.

Can't see how the new spfl statement saying no games in Scotland until mid august when we there has been nothing from government about if lockdown is extended and if it is it will likely only be another 3/4 weeks then gradually lifted

So surely they can't tell clubs that until confirmed by government surely if it is lifted by mid may we can start playing again in july

The Government thinks that June *may* be the appropriate time frame to allow competitive sport to start again. It's been said before that six weeks will be needed before games may be played again.

Sport is not a priority for lifting restrictions. And to be honest, social distancing measures are going to cause their own problems if they are maintained as well and everything is behind closed doors.

This could all end up being put back further depending on developments . I don't think the timeline is pessimistic.

Lockdown will not be lifted by mid May, that is absolute fantasy.  There might be some easing of restrictions by then, but nowhere near playing sporting competitions.

I would hazard a guess that even August is optimistic, to be honest.

I realised you were, but people have been seriously suggesting this.

Ah, fair enough. To be fair, if you had a Celtic supporters vs. The Rangers supporters darts and doms tournament, Sun Sport could easily fill 8 pages with it...

If you had guaranteed primacy over a lower league ground then that would have been fine with the SPL, since their fixtures would then have been giving priority.

And who in their right minds would do that? Aye if there's a fixture clash the club renting chucks out  the club that plays in the ground every year? Never going to happen.

We've had hearts and hibs, rangers and celtic and dundee United  and dundee playing in different leagues since then and theres been no problem dealing with fixture clashes that has caused as in none of these cities are the clubs allowed to play at home on the same day. Shouldnt have therefore been any issue with a club groundsharing with a team in a different division.

That's wasn't really the SPL's problem. Although the criteria were clearly a nonsense, every other team that earned promotion were able to invest to meet them one way or another, including clubs who were no bigger than Falkirk (eg Dunfermline, Partick Thistle), so the onus was really on Falkirk to either upgrade or move at that point.

I don't think anyone can argue that the rules themselves were bad, but Falkirk were clearly treated fairly under those rules.

So SPFL are saying football won't return until at least August and the new season wouldn't be able to start until September if we concluded this season which wouldn't be possible as there isn't enough dates in the diary to do so.

So will there be no season at all of football can't start by August? They are digging a bigger hole for themselves here!

Have Dundee given any indication when they’re planning to make that tough 50/50 decision so the other 41 clubs know what the hell is going on. Not really arsed which way they vote but this sitting on the fence looking for bribes is absolutely tragic.

Awaiting an substantive answer from Dundee FC, NO PANIC!!

What could possibly go wrong, DFC always has had such a stable BoD eg, The Ms, D Stefano et al.............😉

We did what we could do at the time. If you need 10 million pounds to build a new 10k all seater stadium what do you suggest a club does to come up with that cash. Our plan was to sell the ground to a supermarket and use that money but the council refused for years to allow a supermarket to do that. We didn't have the same luck Hamilton and St Johnstone had. We couldnt just expand brockville due to the site limitations. We would have had to knock the whole thing down and move the pitch and then build 10k new seats to do that and where was that cash coming from? Few clubs in scotland outside the old firm could afford that sort of cash. We were therefore stuck with the self preservation league being quite happy to see noone relegated until the negative publicity became so bad that they bent over backwards for ICT.  Killie had rich benefactors that were happy to fund the stadium but we weren't that lucky. I enjoy going down to killie with my dad whose a fan. It's a cracking stadium but the worst legroom out of any ground I've ever been at. Fans are always a good laugh and majority are always saying to me that falkirk should be up beside them and not languishing where we are. Good bunch.

Why would that mean no season at all?

They are trying to 'clear the way' for next season to take place which will give clubs access to TV money, sponsorships and Season Ticket sales. None of which clubs can get if we are waiting indefinitely on this season finishing.

What happens to the new season of football can't start until September anyway? What I'm saying is there bluffing again to try and push this through!

Dundee Statement - a waste of everyone’s time. Ridiculous that we’re all being held to ransom by just one club, whose main claim to fame in recent years has been entering administration twice.

Call these muppets bluff. Declare their vote void, assume this resolution has failed and get back around the table with everyone participating in the debate on how to move forward.

Exactly. Every time they release a statement it says feck all . They then have the gall to attack partick and ICT for trying to explain to people what the feck had happened.
