RandomGuy.
Summer Transfers 2020 Out Redmond the only one I didn't intend to sell, but I couldn't turn that down when planning a rebuild, and I've already got two young players mewling because I rejected transfers for them. Lemina, Hoedt, Carrillo and Hesketh all out on loan last season, and none stood out, so happy to punt them. Armstrong never performed, Djenepo the same despite his apparent potential. Romeu and McCarthy shite back up so money is money.
RandomGuy.
Summer Transfers 2020 In This is the overview, will have individual screenshots of all players below (probably over two posts)... Spoiler ... wanted pace, power, and more in attack. Also wanted more depth all over the park, as last season I had zero quality outside my starting line up. Starting from the cheapest... Sebastiano Esposito - Loan (£15m optional future fee) Spoiler Love the look of this guy. Tried to sign him permanently but he just extended his Inter deal and wasn't keen. £15m fee agreed so can hopefully trigger that. Adams was a shite back up last season so hoping this guy contributes more. Vanja Milinkovic-Savic - £2m Spoiler Another to develop/see how they go. He won't play much this season (I wanted to loan him but no interest), but can hopefully still progress to see how far he goes. He will take all my free kicks. Joe Bryan - £3m Spoiler My left back reserve last season is a young lad, hes been sent out to develop, so needed someone else. Nothing more than a cheap back up, who qualifies as home grown. Frankly I needed a Scot to replace Armstrong too. Adrian Fein - £5m Spoiler My favourite signing. Absolute bargain, absolute wonderkid, already quality. Whats not to like?
RandomGuy.
Summer Transfers 2020 In - Part Two (the big guns) Part One all the under £10m signings, now into the over £10m category. Again, starting at the cheapest... Lucas Moura - £15m Spoiler Played all of last season with a natural right winger, so this seemed a no brainer. Got dat pace, got dat work rate, got dat dribbling. All i want in a winger. Rob Holding - £17.5m Spoiler An odd, uninspiring, signing I agree, but I lost all faith in my old CBs and this guy seems competent enough. Expect him to develop more than it looks like he will. Jerome Onguene - £17.5m Spoiler Part two of the CB revamp. Hes an absolute fucking monster. Nothing more needs said. Could turn into a properly top class defender. Pablo Fornals - £25m Spoiler Wanted away from relegated West Ham + RG wanting creative player in the middle = Perfect opportunity. Another who should contribute straight away, and develop. My CM options last season were all workhorses, and then Armstrong, so someone who can actually control the ball and pass it is nice. Hoping him and Fein can help me hold onto the ball this season. Allan Saint-Maximin - £30m Spoiler Decided I wanted more pace, flair, and ability to beat men, in the squad this season. Who better? Did I overpay? Maybe, but he was superb for Newcastle last season, and I was replacing Redmond who was my 2nd top scorer, and top assister, last season, so I needed as close to a guaranteed EPL performer as I could. I've already played a few games, and its safe to say I'm loving this guy. So thats it. Better, or worse, than people were expecting? My wage cap is around £100k/pw so struggled to attract much. Decided against the Croatian keeper as got a really bad gut feeling about them. Also agreed a £36m move for Jack Grealish, but then he demanded £110k/pw so I backed out, maybe a mistake but chose Fornals instead.
RandomGuy.
On 06/04/2020 at 20:19, RandomGuy. said: Spoiler Meet the Boys Terrifyingly shite. Pretty much reliant on Danny Ings not being awful. I usually play with a flat midfield four. This is not a squad built for that. Need a right winger badly. Scary. Bertrand the only one you'd be happy with. Hopefully the star ratings are deceiving. Just discovered McQueen is actually injured for 15 months too. Clear why avoiding relegation is the objective... How much money do I have to try and strengthen this rag tag bunch of average? Compare last season to this... Meet the class of 2020/21 Quality - Yes Depth - Yes Options - Yes Last season I didn't have any attacking subs except Djenepo and Adams. Feel like I've upgraded for sure. Same as above. We now have options, and quality, outside the starting eleven. Fein and Fornals should hopefully me on the ball, a lack of possession could be traced as being a major problem last season. Looking back we relied entirely on Ings finishing the few chances he got, we won't survive again unless we improve as a team. Again we finally have depth in here. Injuries/suspensions shouldn't f**k us like last season. Options here too, both new keepers apparently upgrades on Gunn. Considered selling Forster but nobody would sign him without wanting me to pay £40k of his wages, so as well keeping him and giving him a chance.
RandomGuy.
August 2020 Transfer window didn't end until after some of these games had been played. Every signing came straight into their first available squad. EPL v Burnley : 1-1 (Ward-Prowse) Spoiler 2 minutes my hopes for the new season started. First corner of the season, keeper and CBs all at sea. Captain Fanstastic saved us again. Not promising. EPL v Norwich (A) : 1-0 loss Spoiler First corner faced, first goal of the game. A worrying theme developing. Moura and Saint-Maximin caused absolute carnage but neither, nor Ings, could finish anything... EPL v Tottenham (A) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Another early goal conceded from a corner. The second was an absolute worldie. No real positives apart from Fein. Watching how Tottenham played though, gave me the idea to change things. The played with the two wide men higher and didn't seem exposed at all, and I'm not scoring anyway, so next game I'd go fairly bollocks out... Carabao Cup v Fulham (H) : 3-1 win (Moura, Saint-Maximin, Esposito) Spoiler The more this lot play together, the better we're getting. Fornals had a stormer in a new role, the two wingers both scored after being pushed up the park, and the attacking signings scored. Ings the only worry, close to getting himself dropped. EPL v Brighton (H) : 2-1 win (Ings x2) Spoiler That'll do. Wingers starting to heat up now. Bertrand taking a knock early on encouraged the signing of Joe Bryan. League Table No point reading too much into it yet. Last season 17th survived on 30pts, so my target will be 35. I'd love to do better than last season though (13th/43pts) Next month on that charge? Two new boys in Middlesbrough and Huddersfield, real test of where we'll be as you presume they'll be weak. Chance of revenge on those p***ks Everton, although they'll no doubt score another in the 97th minutes. Newcastle can get revenge on me for relegating them last season. Saint-Maximin will start.
RandomGuy.
September 2020 EPL v Everton (A) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Happily never play Everton again. Fucking hate them. EPL v Middlesbrough (H) : 4-1 win (Saint-Maximin, Ward-Prowse, Fornals x2) Spoiler Saint-Maximin beats about 4 players and rifles one in straight from kick off, they never really recovered. Fornals shows his worth too. When it all clicks, this is a great side. Carabao Cup v Newcastle (A) : 0-0 (won on penalties) Spoiler Saint-Maximin injured within 10 minutes. Battered them after but just couldn't score at all. Deserved to go through. EPL v Huddersfield (A) : 2-1 loss (Saint-Maximin) Spoiler Absolutely robbed. Battered them, absolutely battered them. Bertrand then falls asleep at the back post and we concede from their first shot. All them after that, yet another set piece into the box, Forster then lets the ball wriggle through him. Pathetic. League Table Watford look fucked. We should've had breathing space, but that Huddersfield result has dragged us right in. A lack of relationships on the pitch feels like its affecting us, no links between players at all yet. Hopefully play through that without getting sucked into the bottom three. Board are expecting a mid-table finish. Fulham and Wolves the only hope for points, I'll lose the other two comfortably.
Miguel Sanchez
I'm enjoying this (after just discovering and reading it all at once), but I've been burned before. Please finish this one. Also share your board expectations for the second season.

RandomGuy.
October 2020 EPL v Man U (H) : 1-0 loss Spoiler Fraser Forster my scapegoat, so Milinkovic-Savic comes in for his debut. He done pretty well tbf, Saint-Maximin caught fannying about outside our own box and RB scored when clean through. Another match for this team together though, should hopefully start coming together soon. EPL v Fulham (A) : 4-1 win (Ward-Prowse, Moura x2, Moura) Spoiler Another example of why I, maybe stupidly, believe this team could finish in the top half. Two penalties both won by wingers driving into the box. EPL v Wolves (H) : 1-0 win (Hojbjerg) Spoiler Would've been a travesty if we'd failed to win this. Strikers becoming a worry. Esposito inconsistent, but Ings has been stinking since his injury last season. Carabao Cup v Leicester (A) : 0-0 (lost on penalties) Spoiler Fein the man who missed his, second, penalty. Strange old game, injuries ruined out flow a bit. Not too bothered to be out, last season the extra games killed us a bit. EPL v Liverpool (H) : 1-1 (Esposito) Spoiler Keeper was immense, and the goal we scored was from a set piece, delightfully. One of those games you see as bonuses if you get anything from them. League Table Everton running away with the league, their regular line up is their original apart from Sandro up front after his loan spell. Manuel Pellegrini in charge. We've got a cushion to 18th again, which is nice but not yet perfect. Going to try and push for a top half finish. Next set of fixtures? Yes, my fixtures were Liverpool - Man City - Chelsea. Horrifying yet started well, so two 6-0 losses coming up. As long as we beat Palace I won't really care. This also happened... I'm now listed under favoured personnel, and Southampton as a favourite club. My plan of signing him permanently just got a huge boost.
RandomGuy.
You may have noticed Sam McQueen playing left back in the last game, both Bertrand and Bryan injured for weeks. 25 minutes into the Man City game and his direct opponent, Bernardo Silva, already has 4 goals... Just so folk know, I update monthly, the moment I've done the month. That 6-0 comment was made before I played the Man City game Edited April 14, 2020 by RandomGuy.
RandomGuy.
November 2020 EPL v Man City (A) : 7-0 loss Spoiler That wasn't pretty, but at least it stayed under double figures. My St Johnstone v Celtic/Forrest 4 goals, moment. McQueen had a nightmare and won't play for me again, barring absolute necessity. EPL v Chelsea (H) : 1-1 (Esposito) Spoiler Perfect response to the Man City game. EPL v Crystal Palace (A) : 2-1 win (Esposito x2) Spoiler Espo-fucking-sito. One a proper poachers tap in with Moura laid it on a plate, the second he beats 2 defenders and rounds the keeper. I've activated the optional fee to make his move permanent, hopefully get that across the line. League Table That win over Palace huge, as it cuts the bottom three adrift. All things told, having a run of top six teams back to back, and coming it clear of relegation and in touch of the top half is pretty good. Busy December again. All winnable games, so no idea how to judge it. Ideally I'd be at, or almost at, 30pts by the turn of the year.
RandomGuy.
His loan turns permanent in January. £15m, no sell on clause, no added clause. He's all mine.
CM.
Are St Johnstone difficult to manage RG? Despite enjoying my old days Man City save I would quite like to do one of these story threads for FM20 too but don't know who to go. Too far into my Clyde and Bolton saves to do a story on them from the beginning, only have brief updates of them over on the FM thread.

And I dont know I think I'm too biased when I manage St Johnstone so I stick to certain players even if they arent that great. Seem to be one of the weaker top flight sides in this years game so the first season is usually a bit challenging.

There is one for our challenge game I've done an update quite recently on it although not quite in depth as I'm going with the old Man City one. Will try and upload on it more often providing my opponents do the same!
RandomGuy.
Been desperately hunting for a winger, who can play both sides, to provide cover/competition for Saint-Maximin/Moura. Ideally young enough to be happy to be back up, but who can also develop into a first team player. This guy is 18... Is he worth £15m? His potential, according to my scout with 20 JP, is 4.5*, with the final half star blacked out. RandomGuy.
December 2020 EPL v Watford (A) : 1-1 (Esposito) Spoiler Heartbroken. This team is so frustrating. EPL v Arsenal (H) : 1-0 win (Ings) Spoiler Karma for the Watford game? Who cares, 4pts from these 2 better than I'd expected. Now a run of four games against sides around me. EPL v Bournemouth (A) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Never got going. Stats make it look competitive but it wasn't at all. Horrible performance. EPL v Leicester (H) : 5-1 loss (Esposito) Spoiler Bye bye goalkeeper. First two goals soft enough that I got an animation of the keeper trying to claw it off the line. Barnes' two goals were back post headers when Valery fell asleep. Both now in the bad books, which doesn't bode well near a transfer window. EPL v Sheffield United (H) : 3-1 win (Moura, Holding, Elyounoussi) Spoiler Result that prevents the month being a total disaster. New tactical changes that came in at half time v Leicester see me, finally, dominate a game. EPL v Wolves (A) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Clinical striker v Poor defence. GK and RB becoming a huge issue. League Table Everton completely bottled the lead they had. Liverpool were 13pts behind heading into this month. Us? Just the usual, fucking about in the bottom half, never able to get a run that drags us up, but winning enough to keep us going down. Last seasons collapse at this stage still weighs on my mind, so no idea how I treat the January window. Januarys fixtures here... Cup progression a must. Then I must beat the three shite teams, and try and get something from Man U and Norwich.
RandomGuy.
Top Scorers so far Wanted more, needed more, from the midfield. Saint-Maximin and Moura doing no better than who they replaced. Have to make some major decisions on sticking or twisting in January.
