Mid-Season Squad review 2022/23

Name - Position - Appearances - Goals - Assists - Average Rating - Age

Goalkeepers

Exciting stuff.

Defenders

Untitled.png.48b236229df684761612d75fc827fee6.png

Easy to guess the first choice. Daniel Harvie picked up a 3 month injury which is why Lemon is getting his chance.

A replacement for Griffiths will be needed so already hunting for a Summer target. Pretty happy with the rest so far tbh.

Midfielders

Untitled.png.ce68651325ee375d523f6294b068abd5.png

Ewing highlighted as hes the best performing player in the squad. A total suprise considering I signed him as a cheap punt to loan out a few times then sell.

Andy Murray is hated by my coaches but regularly creates game winning goals.

Scott Robinson and Scott Wright on the cusp of being chucked already.

Strikers

Untitled.png.83fe4cfd76d90258d4500ebd0a4111cc.png

MacBeath been injured almost the entire season.

Switched to a front two for certain games so the other three have all had their shots.

January plans

Nothing.

Have money to play with but no real point. If I could sell Robinson I'd be happy without even replacing him. If Wright goes then I would try to, but theres not a lot of there just now.

Suspect the Summer will see more business.

This is a fine example of the issues I'm having.

Attackers not contributing is going to cost me promotion, and theres nobody willing to join who looks any better.

January 2022/23

No signings in, and only youth players loaned out.

Untitled.png.35de0205486cae5bea2d9cc996c255c6.png

Falkirk blew us away, a total no show from us.

Fortunate to get an easy confidence boosting game straight after.

Lack of goals from attackers rears its head again in the last 3 games.

We play Motherwell, sitting 4th in the Premiership, in the next round of the Cup. Real test of where we are.

Untitled.png.d64bbd21e4552ee4b2bbb4aa350e2983.png

Somehow stay at the top, still completely convinced United will overthrow us by the end. We rely completely on the defence as the attack just isn't good enough.

Just now, Widge said:

Glad to see you're finally having some success at saints on FM, after many years of heartbreak and sackings!

Tbf my only achievement so far is getting relegated, and then getting knocked out a cup by Hibs reserves 😂

Nah you've managed almost a full season and got Stevie May scoring, I'd say that deserves kudos.

Motherwell were 5th in the top flight, so thats a huge win. Following that up with a demolition of County to make the Semi-Finals is just tremendous.

We play Rangers in the Semis.

The 3 games inbetween a huge disappointment, overhaul of the attack badly required if we do get promoted.

Untitled.png.49d5e4c4972e9469adeab8703ec25fba.png

Qualified for the Play-Offs, so I'll keep my job.

Will be disappointed if we don;t win the title from this situation, but this inability to win tight games is a nightmare and the league is so tight I can't afford many slip ups.

My last game of the season is at home to United...

March 2022/23

Untitled.png.09481483f075692dbb7318890d144165.png

Strange month.

Really struggled in the first and last games, but the two Mays saved us. Absolutely savaged Falkirk and Clyde.

Always good when all your strikers score in the same month.

Clark, Slivka, McCall and Obafemi all missed the Ayr game.

Untitled.png.ece1050924806b4269f230319ddbb4dd.png

United blink.

Shouldn't throw this away from here now, we've not lost since January 7th so for United to gain 6 points on us would have to a complete collapse.

Final round of fixtures...

All set up for a final day bottle job.

Drey Wright has picked up an injury and will miss the first 3 games.

Ross Cunninghams time to shine.

Gutted.

We played really well and matched them for spells, but couldnt really create any real chance. They then score after a mess of a corner. Penalty was inevitable wasnt it? Even the commentator said it was soft.

Promising signs but I'll need a goalscorer next season if this is the standard.

WE ARE GOING UP!

Disappointed with the crowd, tbh. We've averaged about 2500 home fans all season and I expected more for the title winning game.

Financially itll be tough to keep up as the teams in the Premiership have all seen their crowds increase over time.

Players show up when its needed.

Untitled.png.c6d1465134cc20ec88e70049f7f18b7f.png

You'd have no idea United were in the title race at the start of this month, they picked up 2 points from 5 games at the end.

Hamilton beat Dunfermline in the Play-Off Final, with Morton getting relegated automatically.

Raith were 7th going into the final day, but dropped to 9th after a 5-0 loss to Airdrie, then lost the Play-Offs. Complete horror show for them.

Player Awards 2022/23

Untitled.png.93553e98b9bfab8c910b4d2e8a2fefbf.png

Well deserved. I wasn't too sure about his signing at the time, but he has been superb.

Untitled.png.1de7636d8ee04e6ba7771fd525690396.png

Shankland was the top scorer and misses out, while McManus just made it into double figures, not really sure why hes there tbh.

Squad Review 2022/23

Goalkeepers

Untitled.png.86c60367d54561c0b37a6e68cf14cbe0.png

Clark kept 26 clean sheets in the league. Far too good. Dont intend any changes from these two next season.

Defenders

Untitled.png.fd2100e3f92f5ecb49a02c96efbd5467.png

I don't rotate much here.

Not sure what to do here. Defence was rock solid and they're all signed up for next season. Think they deserve a chance at the top flight.

Midfielders

Untitled.png.c9a121f00b4c1932007760876f221473.png

Ewing the surprise star, signed as a punt to loan out then sell, yet has forced himself into being first choice.

Scott Wright the biggest disappointment, had flashes but was consistent enough when starting games.

Andy Murray is still hated by the coaches, yet still comes into games and sets up game winning goals. I really like him as an option.

Same as the defence, think they deserve a chance so might not change much centrally,  and will try and get McCall again. Will likely try and get someone for the wide positions.

Strikers

Untitled.png.6b03cfb35d8ddd1edec704ac4b3417b3.png

Ruth and May the stars, probably need better next season though so I'll target a striker. Not sure I'll bother trying to retain Obafemi.

Pre-Contract Agreements Summer 2023

Untitled.thumb.png.79a1a6d23964f7eb0765093a6ecf4cad.png

Just the one. Valentino Salducco from Juventus' U23 side.

Bit of a punt, but base technical stats are there, and looks pyhsically up to it. Plan to loan him out until those mentals get stronger.

Project player.

Would like to highlight this guy.

Jamie Ross is his name, and he came through my youth ranks. Reckon he could become a very decent option after a few years in the lower tiers, and has already started well there.
