Scotland v Wales. This was some squad. How Gemmill got away with that tackle on Yorath. Two brilliant players in their day.

I love that Wles strip. Scotland one is not too shabby either.

This was a great squad. It’s disgusting how we went from world class to nothing more than piss poor

Was a good squad when we look at the the teams
Was only 11 when we played in this group but remember this game. Looking at Group now we had a bit of luck in the last game Bulgaria drawing with romania and the game before romania beating Switzerland but looking back it was a very good squad.

This is the guile today’s Scotland team lack. We kept going and going.

Eh... we drew with Luxembourg in our very next match just a few weeks later.

Three points lost to Ireland in the group were costly although we did defeat Belgium at home when - like the Bulgaria game (who we drew at home with) - it was too late.

Something I noticed watching the old games that have been on , the 80s we were trying to take the game to teams we were perceived as being not good as.

By the time last night watching the Brazil game the squad was very old, we were just launching balls forwards hoping for the best trying to keep it tight. Squad was much poorer quality though.

Was quite shocked as far back as 98 we started playing folk who werent getting club games . Tosh McKinlay comes on as sub, waspushing 34 rob McLean saying he hadn’t been getting games at Celtic yet in a World Cup finals squad

Stick some links in the OP and you'd have a winner of a thread, especially since we're all bored out of our collective gourd.

I'll kick it off with (presumably) the man you are referring to as 'The King'.

🤩 NOW... That's what I call world class.

Denis Law was the king

is the king

Tosh McKinlay was quite good for Scotland sometimes , esp. playing left wing back !!!

Seems like a vaguely appropriate thread to post this - Bbc scotland away to start showing that rare beast, a Scottish tournament win (v Sweden in 1990).

Great win that. The hope that, as always, went on to killWas not that good ,

Was not that good , unfortunately

Costa Rica was a sick joke
