Championship Manager 01-02

I downloaded this today and it was a wee bit of slow and a bit of a faff to get it off the Champman site so I thought I'd fire the files in here so folk can download them a bit more easily and certainly quicker than on there.

CM 01-02 is one of the greatest games ever!

Here's the step by step instructions to get it going on Windows 10, complete with all the player data up to October 2019.

1. Download the game ISO image from here; https://www.pieandbovril.com/downloads/CM0102.iso

2. Right click the ISO when it's downloaded and choose "Mount"

3. This is like adding a new disk to your PC. You'll see the drive in explorer. Run the autorun file to kick off the CM install and accept all the default values

4. Now download this patch file which updates CM to v3.9.68; https://www.pieandbovril.com/downloads/cmpatch.zip

5. Extract the file in the zip and just run it. This updates CM automatically to the required version.

6. Now download the new data file from here; https://www.pieandbovril.com/downloads/october-data.zip

7. Extract all the files in that zip. Go to the folder where you extract the files and select all (ctrl-A) then copy (ctrl-C)

8. Go to the install data folder (mine was C:\Program Files (x86)\Championship Manager 01-02\Data)

9. Right click inside the folder and choose paste and overwrite the 67 data files from the update into this folder

10. Finally right click the CM icon on your deskop, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, then choose Windows 98 ME as the compatibility type and tick the box to run as Administrator

Then run the game and enjoy!!

There is something innately wrong about playing this with the modern day player data.

Mark Kerr, Julius Aghahowa, Maxim Tsigalko, Cherno Samba or GTFO.

I'd like to play this game, can you give actual instructions rather than geek-talk.

I clicked on the first link and nothing happened.

Can't really make it much easier than the above I'm afraid.

Download working fine for me mate 😐

If you want this database, I assume you just don't do steps 6, 7, 8 and 9?

So unless you're part of the 0.1% that can understand what's essentially a collection of words then, no dice.

Whats an ISO?

What's a Zip file?

Madness.

Aren't all instructions essentially a collection of words?

That's deep.

Cheers for this, it's much harder than I remember. Sacked in my first season sitting in 7th at The Loons, just above relegation. Added a new manager and finished 7th but was comfortable surviving.

Finding it hard to sign players as hardly any free agents and no funds for transfers. What I'd give for Taribo West!

Love being able to batter through a season in a couple of hours

Keep getting an error when I try to start it - pish about DirectX and ensuring the graphics adapter can handle 16 bit colour.
What stupid thing have I done or not done?

Post a screenshot of the error

Edit: Never mind, it's started working!
