The amount of legal battles this is going to cause (which are hopefully all lost) should be some laugh

The press association has said that at least one Premiership club is wanting the season to be declared null and void, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out it'll be Ann Budge, article on the BBC about it. Imagine though that happened, all hell would break loose lol

I think the clubs who will be negatively affected need to man up and deal with it, these are exceptional circumstances probably not to be repeated in the next 100 years. I don’t think they would complain if the circumstances arose due to WW3.

Ayr fans agreeing that their club playing top flight football for the first time in a 1000 years because of the current situation instead of earning their place is the best solution. How convenient.

Gav Wallace is an oddball. Wouldn’t pay much attention to him or his “sources”.

The “promote 4 teams and relegate no one” approach doesn’t satisfy everyone like people seem to be claiming. You’d still end up pissing off the teams just outside the promotion play offs who’ll feel they’ve been denied a shot at the play-offs. There’s also the fact that Sky would never agree to just having 2 Old Firm games.

Still think trying to finish the season whenever it can resume is the best way forward - regardless of when that is. If the season after needs to be truncated then so be it but at least everyone will know that before it starts.

Even for the teams that for example finish mid-table in the Championship, they will suddenly find themselves as favourites to gain promotion to the Premiership for the following season. There is an incentive for pretty much every team.

As long as Celtic and Rangers are in the top 4 or so teams in the league then they'll definitely get them, the split would just have to get more creative likely. Take Lewis Cumming's theorised 16 team Prem template for example:

In what can be reasonably regarded as exceptional circumstances, I fail to see why a team in fifth or sixth position should be any where near a priority. There is no perfect solution and all I tried to do was come up with the most palatable to the majority.

Quite happy for all football just to be abandoned and regarded as archaic in a year's time as something like jousting would be today.

What makes you think that there will be more than 2 Old Firm games next season if it has to be shortened?

Fair point, although presumably the 16 team league wouldn’t just be for one season? Otherwise you’d need to relegate 5 or 6 clubs to get back to 12.

If you increase it to 16, (not my first choice, even though we would benefit) Sky not only would have the OF derby but, the Edinburgh derby, the Dundee derby, the (ahem) New Firm derby, the Lanarkshire derby, the Highland derby and the Ayrshire derby. I know they cream themselves over the OF but this could soften the blow.

It wouldn't, at all.

Not a single person outside Scotland gives a f**k about those derby's.

Fucking hell no one in Lanarkshire cares about the Lanarkshire Derby.

Gavin Wallace and Lewis Cumming. My word we must be desperate if their views are being discussed.

But on weekends that don't have the OF derby at least there's more chance of something with a bit more viewing figures.

I accept that fans of the far superior teams like the famous Greenock Morton are absolutely desperate for it to happen, but I honestly think the pandemic is more likely to bail out the Jags than relegate us. No precedent at all for finishing a season early, and good luck trying to relegate Hearts instead of Hamilton.

Denial is not a river in Egypt, ma wee Jaggy-supporting friend.

99% certain the music has stopped and yer doon.

There's a far, far bigger picture here than what teams are in what leagues next season. Just accept you've been unfortunate and hope you turn out to be one of the more fortunate in the medium term.

Should it be  too onerous to complete the season it would be an opportunity to finally give the majority of fans what they want. Rangers fans were for the last fortnight conceding that Celtic had won the Premiership. So, let's all be grown up about this and at the same time apply some common sense;

Premiership:   Champions:  Celtic.  No relegation.

Championship:  Top four promoted to Premiership to form a new 16-team league.  No relegation.

League One:  Top four promoted to Championship. No relegation.

League Two:   Top four promoted to League One. No relegation.  Four New  Entrants to SPFL.

Plenty on here would love to see this happen and it would be a grand irony if it took a virus to bring it about, as opposed to rational planning... but I can't see it.

The interests of clubs as far down the European football food-chain as Hearts, ICT, Ayr, Thistle (not to mention Stranraer or Brechin) will have no bearing on the higher-level decisions taken. And our 'top clubs' will no doubt oppose it out of self-interest in any case.

Of course they will. The less "wee clubs" there are, the more money in the game goes to the big clubs. FFS Rangers even tried to have five clubs punted out of the league back in 60s. What a crying shame they died on the arse before Brechin, Berwick etc did 😂

The season's over Briggsy. There won't be games played until at least September.

There won't be remaining league games played or even play off's as you will be playing with a completely different squad of players that got you through the season.

League placings will stand as they are right now. You're down to the seaside leagues.

You still have not got over 2013!  😂
