Coronavirus and the Scottish Championship

Seems like it's likely there will be no closed door Championship games.

Seems to be the opposite of what Leitch was referring to yesterday.  He said there was "no chance" of crowds before October - although he then did discuss Murrayfield being used as a test venue for the Edinburgh v Glasgow games in August - a crowd of 1000 in a 67,500 stadium...

ETA: I know that October is when the Champ will resume, so we will possibly have crowds in some form.  I'm just curious as to why Aberdeen feel that they can say such a thing.  Apart from a shameless attempt to shift more season tickets.

If this follows the success rate of the rest of Leitch's predictions, there is a 100% chance of having crowds back before October.

Obviously it is pretty cynical of Aberdeen to use that as a marketing ploy when no one knows for sure though.

I would be far more inclined to believe Jason Leitch than Aberdeen FC. One is the leading authority on this in Scotland responsible for advising the Govt on ehat to do and the other, well, isnt!

He will invariably err on the side of caution but Aberdeen are just guessing and crowds by August seems unlikely.

Given Jason Leitch's repeated u-turns on the topic, I'm not sure we can really take his proclamations on this subject at face value. If the government decides it wants football to happen, then it will happen.

He's been wrong about everything else so far...

He hasn't really. He has always said that things can change and has acknowledged that they are constantly learning about a new virus. He has said that his 'predictions' are based on the information they had at the time, but more information is being received all the time so the situation is always evolving.

Folk who think that he doesn't know what he's on about because some 'predictions' (which he never said were firm/fixed/definite) have absolutely no clue about the subject, despite many folk astonishingly believing that they know better than a highly qualified set of people who gather and analyse the data. The folk who cry about these experts 'guessing' are idiots.

It's really a case of being right or wrong. It's a case of trying to work out what will happen without having all the necessary details, which is why all such 'predictions' are clearly stated to be based on available data and clearly stated that they could change as more data is made available.

Saw Raith management is back at work, part-time, as of yesterday. What’s the status of the coaching staff at the other teams, who else is back working now?

Edited to update running list:

Ayr - Kerr back (or returning shortly) part-time

Dundee - McPake never furloughed

Dunfermline - Crawford back.

Raith - McGlynn back part-time

McPake was never furloughed for us. Unsure about the rest of the staff.

Strachan wasn't either but he doesn't have a contract with us.

Mark Kerr is either back or is coming back shortly on a part time basis according to someone on our thread. Not sure about McArdle

Since he was in the photos with and doing interviews about the new signings, it would be fair to assume that Crawford is back in some capacity.

Crawford was taken off furlough a month ago, so he could speak to the released players.

A Johnston QoS has been furloughed not sure of a return date, maybe he is back now?

I don't think Johnston will be back before August.

If you’d finished that sentence two words sooner you’d have made my day.

Arbroath have made a couple of signings so would that not mean Campbell must surely be back?    Actually a bit of a grey area - furloughed manager who is being paid by the Govt happens to say in a Zoom call with a player and his agent that he likes him as a player, has a 3 year plan and suggests to the player they might want to give the chairman a call, does that still count?

Alloa chairman said last week he had done all the re-signing of players last month as Grant was furloughed. IIRC he also said Grant would be back from the start of July, and he has duly appeared doing an interview in the local paper this week.
