Hamilton seems to be ahead of the game when it comes to approaching football resuming with coronaviris still about.

With the greatest of respect to Hamilton, they're one of the few clubs that can cope without any fans at all. Allan Maitland was on the radio last week saying they'd be fine if we went for a season of closed door football.

Their terrible support is now coming up millhouse for them!

, nothing “fun” for over a year.

I’ve never subscribed to the notion that supporting a diddy club is fun. and struggle with the concept it’s part of the entertainment industry.

Duty, endurance, forbearance, loyalty/tradition, resilience, character-building are surely more prominent following the lower league game in adverse weather, with dubious quality on show. Not infrequently, the close season was a highlight. Yet there is something comforting about this package and somehow offers more satisfaction than tedious bore-fests all too common at Champions League/international level on TV (or most games involving the Old Firm).

I’ve been seriously disoriented by a few excellent recent seasons by Arbroath which disturbed this though expect the 140+ year tradition or reality to reestablish itself soon enough. Still maybe the enforced break makes us appreciate it a bit more, whatever the reaction.

Well that was a depressing read, this evenings updates include:

1. No league sponsor for next season

2. Possibility of never having a Covid-19 vaccine

3. Skipping a season out so no football until August 2021

Great Laugh, i'll just cry myself to sleep now.

Here's a good news story to cheer you up 😃

They must've got the machines off the back of a lorry.

SPFL looking at neutral stadium 'hubs' for getting football back on in front of fans.

Seems fantasy land stuff IMO plus i don't know if this is just for Premiership or all levels.

Also states a change to the summer transfer window which could make things interesting, especially for ones on pre contracts if there's a gap between contract finishing at current club and transfer window opening.

There's no harm in the SPFL exploring every possible avenue - now that all the toys chucked out of the pram by Partick, Hearts, Sevco etc. have been swept into the bin - but the most straightforward way back still depends on the SG finally abandoning its gormless social distancing nonsense - replacing it with obviously superior measures like masks - and actually rolling out widespread testing and contact tracing.

Bizarre to see the stakeholders double down on the idea that players need fully six weeks of training before playing a competitive match though, given that they don't typically get that before the Betfred Cup starts in the middle of July as it is.

1. Yes.

2. Not sure, but a fair amount.

Thanks.

1.  Obviously income from streaming will never come close to traditional income.  However, if the SPFL want the Championship to start behind closed doors with a clear plan for crowds at a future date, then it is better to have the ability to generate income this way than not.  Games against the likes of Raith, Hearts and Dundee in particular for you guys.  I appreciate that it is a big 'if'.

2.  One interesting question for clubs is what to do if there is no date for a re-start.  At what point do you look at article 12 suspensions when you have no income?  The fact that some form of furlough is going to continue for a while hopefully means that clubs won't be forced down that road soon.

I can guess the stadiums and which clubs would get revenue for hosting.

On point 1, it doesn't matter. Some isn't really thay much better than none here. Having that income stream won't come close to plugging the gap that losing matchday income creates. Being able to stream games isn't a factor here because it will make no difference. Clubs still won't be able to afford to operate without matchday income.

Fair play, it's the most realistic assessment of the months ahead of us I've seen from a club yet. An acceptance that even in the Premier League this season is done and that there's no realistic prospect of playing a full consistent season next year either and that therefore rather than create later problems down the line, they won't collect season tickets for next season now.

St Johnstone announced the exact same about season tickets over a month ago.

I guess you haven’t really listened to anybody about how the virus transmits from person to person.

Masks won’t stop the virus spreading. The only thing at the moment that slows the spread is social distancing ? Almost every country in the world insists on that even when they feel confident enough to ease lockdown.

You've got a real hardon for Article 12.
