Coronavirus and the Scottish Championship

Recommended Posts

Dave McKinnon has confirmed that we voted against it (not a surprise).

He's also confirmed that ICT were pushing for a null and void, despite their "scintilla" ridden statement (ranks up there with concomitant).

Rant incoming here so apologies

While half of Scottish Football is embroiled in keyboard warrior land....

In the real world, in just over two weeks time, hundereds of Scottish footballers will go unemployed and not entitled to any government support, they will have no income.

There is no plan as to how clubs can justify employing these unemployed players.

There is no plan on how to restart a season which isn't going to be a normal season, every other aspect of life is having to change due to conronavirus and football will be no exception.

There is no plan on how to financially subsidise clubs for not being able to play without fans.

That is the only REAL priority in Scottish Football right now, that's what should be the reasoning behind any EGM, not because 'he said if we didn't vote yes he'd threaten a square go or we've been unfairly relegated that's not on'

Every clubs who's bickering atm needs to wake up, move on and work together on how to come up with a plan, to get Scottish Football going in August with all 42 clubs participating.

Why would unemployed footballers not be entitled to any government support? They can be furloughed by whoever they were employed by on 28th February (think that's the correct date), even if their contract is finished. The club may choose to supplement their wages with the extra 20%, but doesn't have to.

If the government says no football can take place till 2021 then clubs have to go with that.

August would be great but I'd imagine if it does kick off then itll be behind closed doors at the very best.

This will force clubs to think outside the box to keep the future bright. Not just scoop up our season ticket money and club merchandise etc every year.

This is an opportunity for the busines people behind football clubs to use their expertise and change and develop the club football financial model to something more robust. Like all other small to global companies will have to.

I think it'll be no specator games until some point in 2021, if all goes well in the next couple of months and infections and deaths continue to reduce then there probably will be a safe justification to be able to play behind closed doors.

Completely agree with you that this is a good opportunity for clubs to come up with new routes of income and make these changes permenant for even when football goes back to normal.

I thought once the contracts expire at the end of this month then they wouldn't get the furlough, apologies if that's not correct.

Coming from a supporter of a club run by a Trump admirer, that's delicious.

Is there not a Coronavirus and the Scottish League 1 thread you should be on now?

There’s better clips from that scene you can post.

It would also feature three of the participants in this debacle.

Not as delicious as the thought of you lot slumming it with Peterhead, East Fife and Cove Rangers next season.

I'd be happy if only 40 clubs made it (the two who I want to die are pretty obvious).

Empty stadium games are not an option. It is not affordable. If it was only a month, or maybe even two at the very most, then maybe it could be done, but the costs of everything cannot be met with the massive reduction in income

Never been on it in all my time on P&B, won’t start now.

Aye right
Ah. But with the likelihood of clubs going bust, will that actually happen?

State of you man. Just praying that a club goes bust so you can retain your position in the league. Away and enjoy the novelty seaside trips and earn your way back.

The hypocrisy of you Ayr fans is off the scale. As clubs go to the wall, reconstruction will happen. Accept it.
