Dang. Scot Gardiner really has the Dundee fans rattled.

Scot Gardiner is a massive *** who is incompetent at his job - as has been shown up glaringly numerous times - yet he still keeps on getting jobs.

He's an absolute hero.

Presumably a calculated move by ICT.  14 team top flight now guaranteed.

I’d still say that is a risky strategy given the voting margins and others might be pissed off. You’d imagine a lot of the top flight clubs can stave this off longer too than the lower league clubs, so the pressure will then mount.

No way would a 14 tier premiership get approved.

Clubs and league bodies can't even agree to vote on a situation to finish the league because of a national health pandemic so if they can't agree over such a serious issue like that then there's no chances of anything else be approved

Well, he did hold Kilmac over a barrel for shirt sponsorship until they decided against it and he left us without a shirt sponsor and was promptly punted. And then he forgot to order seats for Hearts new stand and was promptly punted. So you might not be far off.

"St Mirren, in common with all other football people, would have always preferred to play the season to its proper conclusion.

"However, for the protection of both fans and players, football should take a break until after the summer and hopefully be able to start season 2020-21 as soon as possible, safely.

"As both the UK and Scottish Governments make clear daily, everybody must stay at home as much as possible, to protect the NHS and save lives. Putting increased pressure on clubs to end this season, and potentially start next season early, is not what society needs right now."

This about sums it up for me...

There is no certainty on what next season will look like, taking in to account three cup competitions, that all have sponsors and TV deals plus international windows. The SPFL need to look at a shorter format to the season.

Planning for 36 or 38 games right now while potentially still playing games from this season as well is misguided.

Pretty much my thoughts.
Top flight sides were promised a record slice of a record sized pie next season, combined with reduced income this season, means I can't see them voting for it.
As a one off thing though with extra relegation to return to normal the term after, the cost won't be massive.

I can see this happening tbh. Board fucking about promising to talk about this if the initial proposal goes through first but the teams voting against will hold firm and this will be the compromise.

So you think fodder sides like Hamilton and St Mirren would vote to reduce their income, and increase their chances of being relegated?

It wouldn't (have to) reduce their income, and it wouldn't increase their chances of getting relegated. There would be more relegation spots but also more spots overall. If you finish 10th you stay up: just like before.

Top flight clubs weren’t promised anything - simply put the clubs are ranked 1-42 every season depending on where they finish.  A 14 club premier or 16 club premier doesn’t impact on that at all - the percentage of the overall pie to each club is already agreed for each position no matter what number of clubs Is in each division - the benefit is in gate money not prize money plus Euro solidarity payments if any

Doesn’t mean they can’t re-distribute the cash differently across the leagues so that the top flight clubs aren’t financially impacted.

This isnt a shambles at all. It is a corrupt calculated way of applying pressure to the clubs who haven't voted.

39 clubs have the decency to vote as asked 3 smart arse clubs have decided not to..

Bollocks to your corruption idea.... it is and can only be described as A fucking shambles....... 🤡🤡🤡🤡
