Coronavirus and the Scottish Championship

They weren't aware that the govenrment's business relief measures, guarantee of insurance and now employee wage guarantees would all bail out Scottish football clubs to a massive degree though. So the onus is now on panhandling football clubs like Raith to find their moral compass and hand over the funds to those who won't be getting massive additional support during this crisis.

Is there no end to your tedious drjvel? Time you were designated as furloughed.

Whose paying for. your keep? I think we should be told

Well yes it does, what with most people entering the financial insecurity of a massive economic crash and the straightforward opportunity cost of every donatable £1 to a football club being £1 that isn’t going to a more worthy cause.

Raith Rovers should therefore be handing back money that they don’t need right now to their donors or asking them to choose a suitable charity.  They can wait to get out the begging bowl until an appropriate time, which is not at the beginning of a public health emergency.

Dunfermline have just set up a Justgiving page after the Gov announcement, should they stop theres and do the same as what think Rovers should do?

Saw an article saying China have opened up thousands of social “places” again after 6 or so weeks. Really hope the same happens here instead of prophets of doom on the news saying social distancing could be in place here for a year

But they have been in total lockdown for at least a couple of months.

Hold on just a minute here, be fair to viruston. Give him time to pore over the accounts of Dunfermline to the same degree of forensic exactitude that he obviously gave to the accounts of Raith Rovers before he pronounces his judgement on this matter.

.......THEN you can rip it up for some much-needed arsepaper.   👍

There is no fair way to decide things. Some clubs will feel unfairly treated no matter what is decided.

When we get back to it the SPFL should, from the next season, have it written in to their rules, in utterly unambiguous language, what happens in situations where the league must be suspended, from the next season onwards. It should be a condition of SPFL membership that a club must sign up and agree to it. It should also be in the SPFL constitution that, should any member club sue after signing up, they should be expelled from the SPFL.

When they say lock down they mean it. No one went anywhere in the city. Places of work included not just bars etc.  We are floundering like China in the early stages where we hope people unite and use common sense which humanity has never been great at.  Currently Boris hasn't the balls to go full lock-down.  Apologies for the politics bit on a fitba forum.

Boris' drip-feed lockdown is just exacerbating the problem.

From the point at which the dangers of this new virus were identified, the Chinese have taken three months to reduce the number of new, indigenous infections to zero. We had all that time to prepare for it's arrival and did nothing.

You don't for a single second believe that do you?

Russia also believes they don't have an issue. China is also trying to say the source was not domestic but in Indonesia.

Anyhow, lab trials show Chloroquine is nuking the viral particles. Cheap, non IP protected drug. Another few weeks we will have our answer if it is effective on already infected people.

Fingers crossed.

China went far further with lock downs, social isolation, arrests of people refusing to carry out isolation instructions and the decontamination of cities than the UK Government is every likely to do.  Comparing China’s response to to the UK’s response isn’t exactly a fair comparison.  That’s not even taking into account that China had the first wave of Covid-19 and as with previous pandemics the virus may be mutating into something even more deadly for all we know.

In any case, I’m not deliberately trying to be all doom and gloom about Covid-19 because every day we have to face risks - especially with double-decker buses and ten-ton trucks.

Amplified somewhat if Harry Clarke's the driver.
