Until recently you had the likes of LTHV and Tynecastle groundshare within the EoS. Then groundsharing has been fairly common elsewhere without issue.
Guest
Generally how it works is the team from the higher league is given fixture priority. In essence Dalkeiths game would no doubt get preference and the other teams games would move. Also the eos fixtures person does not a bad job of scheduling so there are minimal clashes throughout the season. I don't think it will be an issue and we may yet see more clubs share grounds in the future, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Best of luck to them though it's good to see new clubs in the EoS set up.
Guest
I suppose it depends on the park, level of maintenance, drainage etc. Other clubs manage to share without issue and Dalkeith Park is pretty well maintained. Given the financial aspects, or lack of, in football right now it might be a matter if having to rather than wanting to share.

Grass pitches are my only concern around groundsharing at this level. Some are going to hold up better than others.

Saughton isn't great and was used over and above just LTHV and Tynecastle... the last season of the share LTHV ran Kelty close for the league and hosted St Mirren in the Scottish Cup. Tynecastle left for another groundshare with Edinburgh Rugby - one of the best grounds in the league and rarely any games off this season - played more home league games (14) than anyone else in the conference.

LTHV March onwards Tynecastle March onwards And that was during a 24 league game season and no King Cup listed. You've also got the early rounds of the League Cup in the second half of the season as well now. junglehenry
Now that season is over, are contracts still in effect until June? Or can players start talking to other clubs now?

Yes, although they both played in the qualifying league at the start of the season (competition / format now defunct?). LTHV also played Scottish Cup ties at home - additional games on the pitch and presumably partly why there was a fixture backlog into the new year, plus the pressure to conclude the season ahead of time for the promotion / title decider. The point about the League Cup is that there nowadays would have been additional fixtures in March onwards that would have filled that congested calendar further. Cup runs and weather postponements are the norm. You try and get them completed March onwards with midweek games. Because two teams are groundsharing that gives little time for a grass pitch to recover and makes a nightmare to schedule games. And both LTHV & Tynecastle had to play a number of those games away from Saughton. Going by the website for LTHV used Broxburn on 7th April, Ainslie Park on the 14th April, Easthouses on the 19th April. Tynecastle used Riccarton 17th April,

(in addition to the 4 at other venues) which isn't bad going for a tired pitch after a long season.

Players who have a contract running out at the end of June 2020 were free to start to talk with other clubs as of January 2020, the same as professional players. Clubs have announced players they have signed on pre contract agreements for next year already.

But I'm sure you'd have been totally coolio if it had been your team screwed for promotion because they had played a lower proportion of home games. Cool beans. Your team got screwed for promotion by a global disaster not by having a few home games cancelled because of rain..by all means have a rant and feel hard done by...but you will get very little support from your average football fan as everyone can clearly see the issues when trying to come to a conclusion...id take the way bonnyrigg dealt with the decisions made and move on..... My team were never in the hunt for promotion. You're making embarrassing assumptions. And doing PPG without taking into account home and away is pointlessly flawed whether you attempt to deputise the silent majority or not.

junglehenry
The clubs voted on it? The only team I think who could be aggrieved by this is Leith? And I've never been a fan of them since youth level and I'm glad LTHV have been given it.
Guest
The clubs voted for it and it passed (agree or disagree its a good thing that clubs decided the pathway) Not everyone agrees with the outcome, or its impact on next season. (Whenever that will be will be is anyones guess at this point) We don't all have to agree it was the best or fairest option. Regardless, the agreement will stand and we have what we have now. Teams can at least start planning for next year, do their budgets and try and get their sponsorship based on what league they will play in. Hopefully clubs can progress as much as they can, or maintain what they have, under what will undoubtedly be challenging curcumstances, for every club.
