Footballers are at risk of breaking bones, suffering concussions etc, fans have to make extra journeys by road or public transport and increase their risk of being involved in accidents, as well as the general risks of catching any disease in a large crowd. craigkillie Posted April 8, 2020 Share Posted April 8, 2020 (edited) UEFA have asked top flight leagues to keep their options open and try to get the season finished if they can. Rather than sensibly understanding that this might be a good idea in general, since we have no idea what is going to happen in the next week, let alone the next couple of months, the SPFL have decided to just batter on and rush through a decision on all the other leagues anyway. Because no lower league team could play in Europe. UEFA apparently meeting on 23rd April to decide what's happening with European Competitions in terms of this season, and for next season. Those clubs who have earned honours over the majority of the season already played will be losers in that instance. 13 team league bonkers idea. Clubs in bottom half playing more than top half? With the exception of League 1, the title races are forgone conclusions. Not a chance they are having an uneven league. Can you imagine the last day shenanigans that would be possible as one team sits finished and the rest cook up results like Austria and Germany in 82. Other than completing the season I don't think there is a particularly satisfactory solution - and completing the season would be a nonsense if players leave and loans finish early.
