Is this weekend the last match we get to go to this season?

He's clung on to it by saying  "automatic" relegation. There was supposed to be a playoff between Aberdeen (in 10th) and Falkirk (in 3rd) which didn't take place due to Brockville not being up to scratch.

Edit: In the season the league was being extended to 12 and the split was introduced for clarity.

For clarity, we didn't avoid relegation.

We were deprived of the chance to gub a shitey Falkirk team by their own board's ineptitude. Aberdeen are the real victims in this.

Probably to give companies and other people the chance to prepare for it.

So as fans we shouldn't really be going?

Why not? Aside from the planning aspect, scientific evidence suggests that banning mass gatherings won’t have a significant impact on slowing the growth of the virus. The risk is that front-line ambulance/health staff might be pulled away from more urgent tasks to attend football games. These front-line staff aren’t stretched at the moment. They might be next week of course, hence the notice period.

Aberdeen are, of course, in the top flight under false pretences, having been elected in the 1904/05 despite finishing 7th in a 12 team second tier. Every success they have had since then is tainted and they should really have an asterisk beside every single one of their league titles.

You're right.

And in 2012 we took a stand for sporting integrity with a big fucking smile on our faces, knowing that we are the real establishment club.

Is there any reason why this will be in force from next week as opposed to now, other than short notice?

Meaning, should football fans just stop going now?

So does that mean concerts being cancelled ? Large theatres shutting ?
Glasgow Central station ? Queen Street station ??

Yes for the first two. Obviously not for the second two, because the country would literally be unable to operate, and people don't tend to "gather" in train stations anyway.

Have you ever been on a train or going through the stations at rush hour! It can be standing room only on some of the trains out of Waverley in the evening.

SPFL could take this opportunity to make a bold league restructuring move for the new season - including 14 team top tier and just 2 lower tiers. Nobody relegated but promotions galore.

I'll never understand the push for a 14 team top tier, as it generally includes a 7/7 split.

This season we have 4 teams in a relegation battle, and could potentially have a 9th v 12th, 10th v 11th type showdown, all on the final day at the same time, with all four needing to win to guarantee safety. A 14 team league would potentially have one of those teams sitting out the final day. Feels a bit shite.

Just make it so that the team in 8th doesn't play on the final day? They should be far enough away from the bottom so it shouldn't make a difference. Same with 7th in the top half.

If it's to help HCWs as opposed to the spread of the virus (although I'm sure the latter will still have some part to play) then that makes complete sense. I am/was just worried that we're being allowed to go to games this weekend just because they're quite close.

Why you so raging about it? You’re going to the best away day in the land.

The football game itself will be fine (there won't be anymore than 100 of us), but being on a bus for ~8hrs and sitting in a small pub for a couple of hours probably isn't the best way to protect yourself from the virus.

What? How do you do that if its not clear who'll be safe when the fixtures are scheduled?

What if, at the first matchday after the split, they could still go down but get scheduled to have that gameweek off?

What if they could all still end up in the play-offs etc.?
