Is this weekend the last match we get to go to this season?

Finish the Premiership season after 33 games is probably the most sensible thing to do. Championship should be finished now and the top club promoted IMHO. Playoffs should be played at Hampden as one-off matches behind closed doors, but all broadcast live on BT, ALBA, YouTube, SKY or BBC Scot.

If they're behind closed doors, why play them at Hampden?  Strictly speaking, any SFA-licensed ground would be sufficient.

League One and League Two will be fine if games are limited to ST holders only as they should mostly fit under the 1000 persons rule that has brought in on the continent.

Some ideas for fans:

Give ST Holders free access to League Cup games next season

Next season play a 44 game season in order to make up for the missing games. Could maybe do a Friday-Monday thing on non-UEFA weeks? UEFA may ditch Nations League to help with fixture congestion?

If not give every ST holder the ability to stream matches played behind closed doors? And charge £8 per game for those non-ST holders. Should be easy enough to do every SPFL Premiership and most Championship clubs already have this ability in place. I think every Premiership game has an OB unit present and is streamed on betting websites abroad although @craigkillie or @The Master could probably confirm this.

Yes, all Premiership games are now covered by multi-camera OBs with pictures sent live to BBC Scotland (which is why they now have someone sitting at Pacific Quay acting as "VAR" on Sportsound).

The exceptions are games at Celtic Park and Ibrox, where those two clubs arrange the production themselves and as such there's no live pictures sent back (which is why someone sits in the studio watching a knock-off feed of "Rangers" TV "monitoring events at Ibrox on social media" every other week). The BBC obviously eventually have access to the footage for Sportscene, although it's worth noting that that the production standards aren't as good, e.g. no pitchside mics.

No point closing off the season at this point. Closed doors maybe in order to delay the inevitable but play the games.

Until, of course, many teams players are sick....thats a different thing.

Hearts fans thinking they’ll survive finishing stone dead last without being relegated because of some absurd technicality regarding a virus outbreak. Who do they think they are? Aberdeen?

Whoa...........Aberdeen have never needed a technicality to avoid automatic relegation in their whole existence (unless you count World War 1 in the 16/17 season of course)

Is there a way to limit crowds to less then 1000, there must be Accies have managed that for years.

Seriously though, if the clubs sell 1000 tickets to an expanded Hospitality program, then it might mitigate some of the financial hit.

I reckon Saints could probably sell 1000 ticket @£50 that included a few drinks and a meal, maybe more if there were no other option. I'd even consider it.

Nicely done - the pivotal word there is "automatic". For those who don't know/ are too young to remember, Aberdeen finished bottom in 2000, they were spared automatic relegation due to the league expanding from 10 to 12 clubs and were saved from a play-off with Dunfermline and Falkirk due to the state of Brockville.

Lehs!

Correct me if I am wrong but was Falkirk's stadium not up to scratch for promotion or something?

I don't think stopping the season early is a viable idea - there are too many problems stemming from that. Teams went into the season expecting 38 games and it would be unfair to pull the rug away from under them near the end. The same goes for the Championship - you can hardly just decide to stop the season when teams have all played different numbers of games and against different opposition. It seems more likely that they'll play behind closed doors, and then if they have to stop playing completely then they'll finish this season at a later date (even in July/August).

I can't see any appetite whatsoever for a 44 game season, nor do I think it's remotely viable. The non-UEFA weeks are mainly in the winter, and we already play midweek on those. You'd also be asking fans to constantly go to evening games in the worst months of the year without any Saturday football. If anything, it's more likely that there will be a shortened season next season if we can't get this one finished in time.

In terms of the Nations League, it forms a part of World Cup qualifying so I am not really sure UEFA can or will scrap it. It's possible they'll reduce it in size by having each team face each other just once rather than home and away. This would be especially useful to them if the Euros have to be moved to next year and they have to consequently postpone some of the qualifiers which are scheduled for June 2021.

Nicola Sturgeon on Good Morning Britain suggesting (without outright saying) that they are going to recommend stopping all mass gatherings in public at Cobra meeting today.

We may just have played the closing game of the season.

London Times saying that all games in England will be played behind closed doors for the rest of the season, announcement could be today, clubs streaming matches online.

And pubs being banned from showing football to reduce public gatherings.

Will be shocked if something similar isn't proposed for Scotland - Hearts and Brechin must be seen to be relegated appropriately.

Unless there’s some kind of mass infection amongst players I’d imagine they’ll go behind closed doors and get the season finished. Take the fans out of the equation to limit the general spread and you’re left with fewer people in the stadium than work in your average supermarket at any given time.

of course, if things mushroom over the next couple of weeks and large numbers of players are affected then you’ll have these issues.

FWIW, it seems pretty certain that this weekend will be the last one played in front of crowds, at least until late on in the split.

Surely theyd be able to remove the "Saturday 3PM blackout" and allow clubs to show games live in the UK at that time, if it does become enforced behind closed doors?

No idea what you do about season tickets, probably offering some form of discount if they take up a ticket the next season would be best. Saves yourself refunding money, and then gets the season ticket holders back the next season. Have to feel sorry for clubs lower down the tiers, no idea how they're meant to survive months of football without any income.

More likely they'll allow clubs to do a streaming service to make some money from it to make up for the lack of crowd

He's clung on to it by saying  "automatic" relegation. There was supposed to be a playoff between Aberdeen (in 10th) and Falkirk (in 3rd) which didn't take place due to Brockville not being up to scratch.

Edit: In the season the league was being extended to 12 and the split was introduced for clarity.

Aberdeen are, of course, in the top flight under false pretences, having been elected in the 1904/05 despite finishing 7th in a 12 team second tier. Every success they have had since then is tainted and they should really have an asterisk beside every single one of their league titles.

We focused all our efforts on the cups that season.

We'd have been fine.
