Clearly Glasgow big team bias by the BBC

Probably getting the Hoops mixed up knowing the BBC. No brainer really. Any broadcaster wants certainty they game will go ahead. The heated pitch and plug and play facilities would have swung it.

Part of the strategic plan is to try and capture a south side support who don’t want to go to Ibrox or Celtic Park. Anyone watching these games who has maybe popped along to Hampden in the past will be surprised at the quality these days. So it’s good coverage for the club. Winning would be helpful too.

Cumbernauld Colts wanting the Huntly game switched down to their place. Cheeky!

The way it was drawn should always be honoured - CC the ones travelling. 3Gs such as Cove or Banks o' Dee could be options should the SFA tell Huntly to get on with it.

‘There is precedent for switching venues in the Scottish cup’. Aye,  fair enough factually true but chucking that in there without mentioning it not having happened in nearly 50 years is more than abit misleading.   There’s precedent for clubs being payed to scratch ties as well,  doesn’t mean it would be acceptable now.

The winners play Hearts at home next round, which is Saturday. Doesn't leave much time for either team to get organised. How much time do you give a situation like this? Maye if they were put under some pressure they'd get their act together. Camelon have moved their game to a local 4G. Doesn't say much for the Scottish Cup when games are being lapped by the next round due to weather. It's not exactly news that the weather might be cold in January.

The issue here is Cumbernauld cheekily wantlng to switch the sense of the cup tie, by having it played as a Home fixture. It came out of the hat with them having to travel.

But I totally agree that the competition shouldn't be held up, this special year. Huntly should have been forced by the SFA to move this last chance before R2 day to an alternative venue. But one up North. e.g. Cove or Banks o' Dee, not down to Broadwood.

By the way, the winners of Huntly-Cumbernauld go to Dumbarton in the next round, not playing Hearts at home. It's Camelon/Brora who receive Hearts. Which missed out on consideration for being a TV pick with all the associated exposure for the club, because Camelon left it until this 5th attempt to go to a nearby 3G. They should have done that last midweek.

I'm reading elsewhere that Huntly's manager has revealed that they tried to get the game moved to Cove's 3G for this Monday afternoon, and to Lossiemouth (grass, but notoriously mild) for tonight Tuesday.

It is stated that in both cases Cumbernauld Colts refused.

If correct, that is ridiculous by CC, and makes their moaning to the Daily Record particuarly hypocritical.

If Huntly tell the SFA their ground isn't suitable, not sure how CC get to have a say as (last season's) rules state it's up to the SFA board to decide on an alternative registered ground.

Not sure it's the ground, but possibly the dates that were the issue. Going by the FN post it was actually tonight for Lossiemouth. There's also been a further update to say it's being played at Cove on Wednesday.

Yeah, re-reading the FN post I realized that I had mistakenly put Wednesday on here. I did immediately edit it to say Tuesday, but you lot are so quick off the mark that in the meantime you had already begun replying to my uncorrected one. I must learn to read properly before starting typing !

What's your alternative here - to play the Scottish Cup during the summer every year?

Not at all. If the non-league clubs want to play in the Scottish cup they should either invest in their own ground or if that’s not feasible nominate an alternative, formally agreed between the clubs involved, prior to the tournament commencing. If there was an extended cold spell then the go-to could be contacted after the first cancellation.

It’s particularly ridiculous given the argument of a partisan home crowd adding to the chances of the home team’s success isn’t an argument at the moment.

Camelon-Brora OFF again, I'm hearing. Even the plastic at Denny is frozen.

Bit of a myth about the synthetic pitches. Relatively easy to clear snow from with the wee tractor but if there’s enough moisture to freeze and ice settles in it’s as useless as grass.

Clubs can have their ground to any standard they want, sometimes there's bad weather and pitches are frozen for weeks. It happens in the SPFL too. Camelon did try to move the game - it was supposed to be at Dunpiace tonight - but funnily enough it was still frosty there.

But might not have been when the tie was first postponed. All the other ties have progressed.
