Brechin have just plummeted to a new low. An absolute minter of a result.

We’ve had a few shockers in the cup recently with Brora and BSC Glasgow beating us but losing to an EOS side is a whole new level. Good to still have a few non league sides left in, we will undoubtedly draw Forfar though.

The process was that anybody who wanted to could apply. The juniors ignored it collectively for about 3 years, which is why they now find themselves a league below some smaller clubs who took the precaution of bothering to apply. There wasn’t really all that much ‘luck’ about it.
There was no jeopardy for the EOS clubs though. The Juniors as an organisation didn't engage; Individual clubs were interested but there were threats and misinformation promulgated by the Junior blazers over what would happen to those who applied. Not as easy leaving the strongest non-league organisation at the time compared to the EOS.

There was Penicuik 3 Stenny 0 last season and Stenny weren't as bad last season as Brechin are this season.

To be fair, in the previous 5 seasons Linlithgow have reached the 3rd round twice and the last 16 once. Brechin are struggling in their league so it's maybe not shock of the season although the Rose won well in the end. Both Broxburn (Cowdenbeath) and Penicuik (Stenny) beat SPFL teams last season. Enjoy Forfar when you draw them. 🙂

Enjoy your cup run if that who you draw.

More than that, 34 Clubs in HL and LL between them plus anyone who's ahead of Lithgae in the EoS Premier.

That's not how it works. You can't simultaneously include teams who aren't in the same region. You can either count it as the number of places Brechin would have to drop to reach Linlithgow or, more commonly, the number of places that Linlithgow would have to climb to reach Brechin.

The people who used to "watch" the match whilst posting regular updates on Twitter are probably now the ones who "watch" it through the viewfinder of the camera, or from behind a mic.  There aren't that many volunteers around and clubs can only let a minimum in to cover the games.

Clubs really should be finding a way to deal with this. Clubs are still allowed a bare bones level of match critical attendees, it's not much to ask that one of them works a phone to alert someone outside the ground as to what's going on.

Fun wee fact about yesterday’s games: Nicky Hogarth player for Cowdenbeath on an emergency loan yesterday in their 2-0 win over Wick Academy.

His dad Myles was on the bench for Linlithgow Rose as they beat Brechin 3-2.

Credit to the guy running the RFC Youths blog for that one.

Top fact action there!

Hogarth senior is of course famous for donning the glorious number 1 jersey for the sensational Falkirk Bairns, but also for reaching the papers after ending up in a scrap after someone was a bad boy with someone else's wife.
