Wick Academy - Musselburgh tie postponed again, rescheduled for Monday.

Due to piss rain on Monday though so I doubt it.

Dry this weekend but rain most of next week as well, so it probably won't be ready for Boxing Day either. Needs to be played at Brora, Golspie, or at Canal Park in Inverness as it seems to be the only artificial surface the Highlands.

They've had enough goes now, it should have been switched to Musselburgh after Tuesday's attempt.

Are there any examples of a Scottish cup tie being switched? Over ever seen them go to neutral grounds.

A quick look and you've got Vale of Leithen v Montrose in 1974-75 as possibly the last example.

Vale of Leithen's Centenary Book confirms that the tie was drawn to be played at Innerleithen but was switched to Links Park. A fire had destroyed the pavilion at Victoria Park in August 1974. The club were using a hut in the nearby public park for changing facilities but it had no hot water. For that reason the tie was reversed to Links Park.

The book doesn't indicate if special dispensation was granted on an one-off basis by the SFA, or whether teams could still reverse cup ties at this time.

Fact you've had go back 45yrs for an oddity involving a conflagration answers the question. Basically the only place you couldn't move a tie has been the away team's park.

(Admittedly there are no replays this season for first time since 1947 which puts a slightly different complexion on matters as a tie couldn't end-up on same ground twice).

That doesn't preclude neutral venues though. They happen every so often due to unavailable grounds, police demands, and this season unplayable pitches/inoperable floodlights/TV.

Here are some examples over last decade. It actually averages several 'neutrals' every season:

2007-08 ... R4 ... Gretna v Morton ... moved to QotS due to state of pitch at Fir Park
2011-12 ... R2 ... Gala v Golspie ... moved to Hawick (?)
2013-14 ... R1 ... Edinburgh City v Fraserburgh ... moved to Spartans (?)
2013-14 ... R2 ... Newton Stewart v Culter ... moved to Wigtown due to 3G pitch being laid at Blairmount
2013-14 ... R4 ... Albion Rovers v Motherwell ... moved to Hamilton for a larger capacity*
2013-14 ... R6 ... Albion Rovers v Rangers ... moved to Hamilton for a larger capacity*
2014-15 ... PR ... Edinburgh Uni v Hurlford ... moved to Preston due to incomplete works at University Stadium, New East Peffermill
2014-15 ... R3 ... Queen's Park v Annan ... moved to Airdrie to due to incomplete works at Hampden
2015-16 ... PR1 ... Harestanes v Girvan ... moved to Kilsyth due to inadequate facilities
2015-16 ... R3 ... LTHV v Huntly ... moved to Spartans due to state of pitch at Saughton Enclosure
2015-16 ... R5 ... East Kilbride v Celtic ... moved to Airdrie on police advice
2016-17 ... PR1 ... Colville Park v Edusport ... moved to Benburb due to inadequate facilities

2019-20 ... PR1 ... LTHV v Wigtown & Bladnoch ... moved to Broxburn due to state of pitch at Saughton Enclosure
2019-20 ... PR1 ... Colville Park v Whitehill ... moved to Benburb due to inadequate facilities

The Albion Rovers games were moved as police Scotland wouldn't allow the matches to take place at Cliftonhill,

The 2013/14 First Round game between Edinburgh City and Fraserburgh was definitely played at Spartans, a result of a typical Edinburgh Council guddle.

We booked Saturday afternoons for the forthcoming season in May/June, but were told that someone had sneaked in back in January to reserve the concourse at Meadowbank for some exhibition or another.  In September we were then told that the exhibition had been cancelled, so we put in the necessary paperwork and after a rather long delay were advised that there had been a fuckup and the exhibition was going ahead as planned.

The chairman tried to rearrange things so that other entrances, toilets, refreshment facilities etc could be set up without us using the concourse, but with the short notice there were so many problems we had to give up and look for another venue.  Thankfully Spartans were away to Albion Rovers that day and were happy to let us use Ainslie Park, while Fraserburgh were also very decent about the arrangement.  If they'd chosen to screw us over it could have been pretty awkward, but they thought that having travelled 170 miles or so it would be silly to complain about 2-3 miles diversion at the end of the journey.

I think you mean Albion Rovers

Airdrie was our designated home ground for the whole of 2014 due to the Commonwealth games so it wasn't really "moved" like the others

HT Formartine 2-0 Turriff (at Keith)
HT Wick 1-0 Musselburgh

Badly depleted team for Musselburgh at Wick tonight. Seemingly some players couldn't get away from work - others managed to swap shifts for previous attempts but couldn't again. Looks like 4 starters missing from their last competitive game; 5 from last round; only 3 will have featured in all 3 games. Only taken 2 outfield subs north. Bench are pair of U20s and assistant manager who's played 30mins football in 2 seasons.

FT AET Wick 3-1 Musselburgh

Visitors finish with 9-men. Threw their assistant manager on toward end. Wick's first 2 were both penalties.

Musselburgh should be home for breakfast.

The second sending off was the manager, Kevin McDonald, so they finished with 10 on the pitch, no idea where he had to go, probably to the bus with the stand closed off.
