Yellow card totaling rules question

Recommended Posts

Six yellows gets a one game suspension, but what counts as a yellow toward this total?

The question is how do double yellow games and cards count? I know the second yellow is NOT totaled, but is the first?

Example: Kyle has four yellow cards on the season. He gets a yellow in the first half and then a second yellow in the second half. Is his total now still four, or is it five? We know he serves an immediate ban for the two yellows...

always thought that if it was a 2 yellows then neither would count with the 1 match immediate suspension for those considered enough punishment.

if it was a yellow card followed by a straight red then the yellow counts towards the total and the immediate suspension being served for the red.

Interestingly transfermarket has him only on 5 league yellows with the 2 against Falkirk = red and already served  so looks like he's still got one more before suspension ????

That's my question exactly. It seems possible that..

parsforlife is correct in this. Which messes up my current totals...oh well.

The first one counts towards the tally but the second one doesn't. However, there is a cut-off point after a club has played half their league games (19 in the Prem, 18 in the rest of the SPFL) - after that you need 12 yellows to get a two-match ban.

Sorry, we agreed to that elsewhere but forgot to post it here. After 18 games, in League One, the cutoff resets to 12 for 2 off, correct.
