Free Agency 2020

Free agency starts on March the 18th and as it stands there are some elite players who could be playing in new uniforms next season. Obviously this could all change with new contracts being agreed and the franchise tag being applied. The biggest name currently available would be Tom Brady. Tho I don’t expect the Patriots to let him leave there have been rumours that both the Raiders and Chargers will be pursuing interest in the 42 year old quarterback. Drew Brees is also scheduled to be a free agent and has hinted at retirement as well.

Other notable players include

Chris Jones (DT) Chiefs

Jadeveon Clowney (DE) Seahawks

Anthony Harris (CB) Vikings

Dak Prescott (QB) Cowboys

Byron Jones (CB) Cowboys

Shaq Barrett (DE) Buccaneers

Jamies Winston (QB) Buccaneers

Amari Cooper (WR) Cowboys

Derrick Henry (RB) Titans

Matt Judon (DE) Ravens

It will be an interesting few weeks leading up the opening of free agency and the opening of the new league year.

The Giants top priority before the start of free agency should be trying to keep Leonard Williams. Markus Golden also had a very solid season on the edge.
This team continues to need an overhaul tho and as it stands reportedly have $58 million in cap space available

Lions have added former 1st round pick guard Joshua Garnett who was last with the 49ers & was cut pre-season of 2019 on a one-year deal. Lions are at risk of losing guard Graham Glasgow to FA with fellow guards Caleb Benenoch, Oday Aboushi & Kenny Wiggins also up for FA.

Lot of the Bills beat writers think Greg Olsen who visited the Bills yesterday would be a good 1 year addition, and obviously knows Mcdermott from Carolina.

Dawson Knox showed bursts in his rookie year among a lot of drops, and is hopefully the future at TE but Kroft seems like a bust and there's another 2 TEs on the roster beyond that. A 1 year deal for Olsen would be ok by me even allowing for injuries, but I suspect he might want to go to Seattle.

Also every WR will be linked to Buffalo.

Edit : Seattle, not Settle, which I think is a small town in Cumbria or Yorkshire

Arik Armstead and Jimmie Ward are probably the top 2 priorities on the 49ers unrestricted free agents list, with both of them saying that they want to stay. Emmanuel Sanders is also on the list and next priority for keeping.

Biggest problem for the 49ers is that the trades for Dee Ford and Sanders have left them woefully short of decent draft picks, and with guys like Buckner and Kittle out of contract next year, they might need to shell out to keep them and let others go in the process.

Kyle Juszcyzk is out of contract but the 49ers have an option to renew which you would expect them to do.

Giants apparently will go after Jack Conklin amongst others. That O-Line does need improvement. Kyle Van Noy mentioned as well, only of the punt Ogeltree though. If we don’t sign Williams back they could go after Armstead. Others mentioned are Devin McCourtney, Jamie Collins, Connor McGovern and Chris Harris

Kwon Alexander has apparently restructured his deal which saves $10 million cap space for the Niners.

Weston Richburg also restructures his deal with the Niners giving them another $4.5 million dollars in cap space. Not much in the grand scheme of things but given how much cap space they've had to play with in the last couple of seasons saving any pennies to potentially ink Armstead will be welcome.

Colts apparently the number 1 contenders for him

Makes a lot of sense, good O line, coaches he's worked with before, and a team ready to challenge. Probably the only contender he's likely to get to, other options will be looking to bring him in as a bridge guy.

I think Tampa would be a good move as well, Arians has a proven track record with old QBs.
