Not quite sure why he would be charged. What he did was extremely creepy but the boy was of a (barely) legal age.

Is there any sign of Mr Invisible yet?

He's signed of his work after a catastrophic episode.

Is that not enough for you or do you want him to take some more flak?

He should have resigned as an MSP, not taken a sickie.

Thank goodness you'll never be in the position of managing actual human beings.

You have no idea about his health and wellbeing and you'd be better served not to heap ridicule upon tragedy.

Yes, the whole situation is ridiculous although I fail to see the tragedy here.  Can you enlighten us all with what part of the story is tragic - the grooming, the getting caught, the having to resign (but not really) or the inability to handle the consequences of your behaviour?

Wait, what?

How is this whole thing not of his own making?

The episode in and of itself is quite clearly not of his making.

He's responsible for his behaviour but in the context of general online bloodlust and the flack he's taking, do you think we should be pursuing him with such relish?

Ffs his behaviour was utterly indefensible. To try and turn this into some "Poor Derek" shite is risible and embarrassing. The SNP need to follow their processes correctly to empty him, and he should resign as an MSP. It's not complicated.

Apart from the "poor Derek" quote that has appeared as if by magic and the risible and embarrassing construct, aye, that's a given.

It was very clearly an act of grooming and his political career is rightly over.   A broader picture might be about the age of consent/ What constitutes a minor.    Soliciting a prostitute is illegal in the UK but certainly the law will come down harder on you if the worker is under 18.

Also there's quite clearly an interesting sexual dynamic going on that I didn't expect in 2020 Scotland

Why are you arguing semantics to take up a defence of this guy?

High profile politician with some seriously dodgy behaviour gets caught, and is rightly sacked.

Why would he not be taking flak from the public? That's a given, and he has very much brought this upon himself.

Where have I defended him?

You say flak, I say flack, let's call the whole thing off.

You do understand the definition of grooming right? "Grooming" did not take place here between 2 adults.

If your defence of perving on wee guys is “well it’s technically legal” then I’m gonna assume the only thing stopping you being a nonce is the threat of the jail tbh (to be honest).
