Despite the loss last week we apparently put up a great fight and were unlucky to lose. Peterheid have lost their talisman and I think will struggle without him. We're playing really well just now and full of confidence. Assume Blair Lyons will be back in the team and buzzing after his transfer. Cant see anything but a Mo win. Peterhead didn’t look good in the first half, Montrose were more disciplined, but Peterhead had more hunger for a goal especially after they got heir second. Montrose seemed a bit complacent after they got their fourth, should have kept the momentum going. God knows what big Lennox was doing at the first goal . Ball dipped a bit but should save that. They missed a couple of chances in the first half too. Hanging on at the end and thought we had blown it when the ref gave the penalty. Kudos to the lino for doing his job and there was no arguments from the Peterhead players. peternapper Posted February 1, 2020 Share Posted February 1, 2020 (edited) Montrose deserved their win & it could easily have been about 8-5.The stand side linesman set the standard in the first minute when he watched the Montrose player toe poke the ball out about 3 yards from him & the ref no more than 10 yards away & gave Montrose the throw in which they took with our players looking on bemused while the ball ended up In our net. The penalty claim looked to have been given by the ref who should have had a decent view from behind the players, if the linesman again was involved in not giving then I would question his choice of activities for a Saturday afternoon as he had not a clue, a good shout for another before the end with a hand ball , The general feeling is officials are reaching an all time low, todays bunch did nothing to disprove that. How we gave ourselves a outside chance of stealing a point was hard to believe but to their credit the team kept trying until the end. 7th or 8th looks to be the goal for us now Will stand corrected for the first penalty claim as apparently Jason went over a bit easily although on another day it could still have been given, but for the handball the Montrose player admitted it should have been a pen. Peterhead were better than us for pretty much all of the first half but found themselves 3-0 down. Arron then chucks one in just before halftime to give Peterhead hope. Second half starts with us on the back foot .. then we get a 4th against the run of play. Home and hosed .. not! Concede two sloppy goals and all of a sudden it’s squeaky bum time. Then in virtually the last minute the ref gives a penalty to Peterhead.. then changes his mind after talking to the lino and books the Peterhead player got a dive (which it was). Its after we got our fourth and they got their second that they dominated and while maybe not a better side they were more aggressive and hungry for goals.
