PauloPerth
One of the most entertaining afternoons at McDiarmid Park for years. Gutted for the players not to get the win they deserved as that second half was shooty in for us at times, we should have been out of sight. Good number of hearts fans through for the first time in a while, hopefully they enjoyed watching the silky young Saints, especially when you compare us to the hammer throwers your team is I’m afraid to say. As much as I’d miss the day out, hope if hearts go down we go for Boyce, he’s a quality player. McCann, Wotherspoon, Craig dominated the midfield the whole second half, and Stevie May brilliant performance. Hope Liam Gordon is okay.
RandomGuy.
Game of two halves. We struggled to do anything first half, pretty mich scabbed a goal and that was our lot. First goal just a really well worked goal, scarily similar to Celtics first, and I missed the second so no idea what happened there. Second half we dominated. May with the best game hes had for us this season, incredible and if he'd completed his hat trick with that shot from the halfway line I'd have been on the pitch. Hearts responded by just chucking strikers on and battering the ball forward, eventually worked but almost entirely down to how well Clare strikes it, incredible strike. Not sure either side will be in real danger of relegation if they repeat their performances from their good halves. I'm not convinced this approach of chucking 5 strikers on the pitch every time you go behind is workable long term, but it worked so... Final note is on the ref. I thought O'Halloran being booked for chasing a ball and getting his legs taken out from behind by White, and Hearts getting the free kick, was a low point, but then you see Naismith, three times in the same move and all acknowledged by the ref who waved play on, take out players counter attacking off the ball, and only get the one yellow card.

Yeah he got wheeled to an ambulance at some point during the second half, hopefully just precautionary.
topcat(The most tip top)
Ladies and Gentlemen Thank you for all your wonderfully posts, it was a tough choice, butwe have a winner Arguably a draw not a bad result for either team but get the impression that neither will be playing for it. Should be fun. Pitch will be a tattie field especially if the game tonight goes ahead.

PauloPerth
We can point to a lot of missed chances in that second half, but Chris Kane has surely just got to slip in Ali McCann for a 1 on 1 with the keeper instead of shoot from 20 yards when McCann hooked the rebound over.
Mr Positive, sometimes.
Struggling to understand where this Hearts fans enthusiasm for Stendel has come from. Although nothing wrong with being positive and trying to get behind their team. 1 win and 6 points from 8 league games isn't exactly good.

McCann was flagged offside anyway so if he'd passed it at the same time it wouldn't of made any difference. Although... He shouldn't of been shooting. Obviously he kept running as Kane hit the strike to go into an offside position.
Widge
Thought there was a clear foul on McCart in the lead up to the goal, Ikpeazu went straight over the top of him and didn’t play the ball. Either way will need to watch it back and see. It feels like a defeat losing a goal that late, but fair play great strike. Not sure how Sportscene will manage to fit all our change into 5 minutes, hit the bar, Spoony and Kane put balls just past the post, Mays audacious volley, Kanes two chances straight at Pereira. It’s not often you can come away from a saints game and say we should have realistically scored 7/8 goals. Also potentially should of had a second penalty when McCart got hauled back by Halkett, who clearly didn’t learn from that. Finally, special mention to Ali McCann. He’s getting better and better. Doesn’t matter if he’s in a 2 or a 3, his engine and work ethic is outstanding. He’s adding goals and assists to his game as well. For all we’re bemoaning Kennedy leaving in terms of goals, McCann has 3 goals and an assist (1 at least) in the last 6 games. He’s simply the best young midfielder in the league right now and absolutely Scotland’s loss.

He was giving it the raised fist to the fans in the main stand as he was wheeled out on the gurney in the neck brace. Brave lad. Massive heart. Well done to the Hearts fans noising up primary school aged kids with Saints scarves on the way out. You must be very proud. Still, that was some game.

The Real Saints
Fantastic second-half performance. Think Tommy got it wrong with his selection in the first 45. Against a team who play so high up the pitch, I was expecting us to utilise wingers and have at least one pacey attacker on the pitch. Fair play to Tommy for recognising what needed to be changed and doing it fairly quickly. It was a delight to see May, Wotherspoon, Craig, McCann and O’Halloran in that kind of form. Gutted to lose the late goal. Not sure whether we should have just stuck with the same formation and personnel for the final few minutes rather than reverting to a 4-5-1 and aiming to protect the lead, but that’s just speculation on my part.

Tommy said that he was hooked at the half because he was injured. Not sure I'm buying that TBH.

Was just thinking that change probably played a part in us getting back in the game. He's certainly better defensively but maybe that's not hard to achieve
